2. Jacob GOFFE 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 (Phillip ) was born on 16 Aug 1649 in Wethersfield, Hartford, CT. He died on 21 Oct 1697 in Wethersfield, Hartford, CT. Jacob was employed as Fence Viewer in Wethersfield, Hartford, CT.

He owned upward of 100 acres of land and had a house, horse, mare, colt, steers, calves, sheep, bees and books, and was evidently a well-to-do farmer. His estate was Valued at œ136, 3 s. 6 d. He was a Fence Viewer in 1675 Judging from his posessions after his death, he appears to have been a man of means.

Court Record, Page 67--17 January, 1698-9: The Court order the Clerk to send a writ to the Townsmen of Wethersfield requiring them to take an Inventory of the Estate of Jacob Goff Decd, and the same to exhibit in Court March next.
Page 92--12 April, 1699: An Invt. of the Estate of Jacob Goff of Wethersfield, Decd, was exhibited in Court by Margery, the Relict, and Oath made before Capt. John Chester, J. P. Adms. to the Relict, and order Ebenezer Deming and Stephen Kelsey to assist with their Advice.

Page 102--2 February, 1707-8: Jonathan Buck of Wethersfield and Margery his wife, Widdow relict of Jacob Goffe Decd, Adms. on Estate of sd. Jacob Goffe, presented to this Court an account of Adms. Allowed and approved and granted a Quietus Est. An Order to Dist. the Estate to Margery Buck, relict, and to Mabell, Mary and Unis Goffe, daughters of sd. Decd. And this Court do appoint Samuel Walker, Joseph Kilbourn & Stephen Kelsey Distributors. This Court appoint Jonathan Buck Guardian unto Eunis Goffe, a daughter of Jacob Goffe; and Mary Goffe, also daughter of the Deceased, made choice of Thomas Morton to be her Guardian.

Page 83--(Vol. VIII) 7 July, 1712: This Court now discharge Thomas Morton of Wethersfield from his office of Guardianship to Mary Goffe, and order that his Bond be cancelled and burned, which was done accordingly this 7th of July, 1712.

Jacob married 3 Margery INGERSOLL 1, 2 daughter of John INGERSOLL and Dorothy LORD on 5 Dec 1679 in Hartford Co, CT. Margery was born in 1656 in MA. She died about 1707 in MA.

She was mentioned in her grandmother Dorothy Lord's will. Excerpt from Dorothy Lord's will-
"I give unto my grandchild Hannah Ingersall (daughter of her already deceased daughter, Dorothy, of Springfield, Mass.) my youngest cow, and my other cow I give unto my grandchildren Dorothy and Margery Ingersall." ..."I give my moveable estate and cattle to my son William Lord, my grandson Richard Lord, my daughter Stanton, my daughter Gilbert and the children of my daughter Ingersall to have one part, and the rest of them, each of them
one part."... "To Margery Ingersall (daughter of Dorothy Lord Ingersoll, deceased): 20 shillings."


She married Jonathan Buck after Jacob's death. They didn't have any children.

4. Phillip GOFFE II 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (Phillip ) was born on 2 Mar 1653 in Wethersfield, Hartford, CT. He died on 7 Mar 1724 in Middletown, Middlesex, CT.

Philip Goff and Naomi his wife, Wethersfield, in 1704, were prosecuted for absenting themselves from church upon the Sabbath, and were tried. Goff and his wife declared in court, that they could not in conscience attend, and would not go to meeting on the Sabbath at the public meeting house. They were sentenced by the court to pay a fine of 20s. to the county treasurer.

Phillip married Naomi LATTIMER 1 daughter of John LATTIMER Sr and Ann COLE in 1684 in Wethersfield, Hartford, CT. Naomi was born on 4 Apr 1648 in Wethersfield, Hartford, CT. She died in Middletown, Middlesex, CT.

She was the widow of John Reynolds of Wethersfield before she married Phillip Goffe.

5. Moses GOFFE 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 (Phillip ) was born on 30 May 1656 in Wethersfield, Hartford, CT. He died 7 on 12 Oct 1712 in Wethersfield, Hartford, CT. Moses was employed as farmer in Wethersfield, Hartford, CT.

Occupied his father's homestead in Rocky Hill according to the Notes on the Founding of New England, American Genealogies, Page 226.

WILL: Page 148-Goffe, Moses, Wethersfield. Died 2 October 1712. Inventory £335-12- 00. Taken bv Samuel Williams, Samuel Smith and Joseph Grimes. Will dated 30 September 1712.

"I, Moses Goffe of Wethersfield, do make this my last will and testament: I give to my son Jacob Goffe £10 over and above an equal share of my estate, real and personal, and to Benjamin, Ephraim and David, and my daughter Jerusha, my five above-named children. I give and bequeath unto them an equal proportion of my estate, real and personal, excepting the £10 first given. I make my son Jacob Goffe and my Cousin Philip Goffe executors.

Page 137-4 May, 1713: Benjamin Goffe, a minor 17 years of age, son of Moses Goffe, chose John Rennolds of Wethersfield to be his guardian. Recog., £20.
Page 214-6 September, 1714: Ephraim Goffe, 15 years of age, son of Moses Goffe, chose his cousin Philip Goffe to be his guardian. Recog., £30.
Page 218-5 October, 1714: Jacob Goffe, executor, exhibits now an account of sundry debts due from the estate, and it appears that there is not sufficient moveable or personal estate to defray the just debts by the sum of £18, which account this Court allow.
Page 32-(Vol. IX) 7 May, 1717: David Goffe, a minor, appeared in Court and made choice of John Dyxx to be his guardian. Recog., £40.

Moses married Mercy DIX 1 in 1687 in Wethersfield, Hartfield. Mercy was born in Wethersfield, Hartford, CT. She died on 20 Dec 1711 in Wethersfield, Hartford, CT.

In 1713 John Reynolds of Wethersfield was appointed Benjamin's gardian after the death of Moses, his father.

6. Aaron GOFFE 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 (Phillip ) was born 7 in 1658 in Wethersfield, Hartford, CT. He died in Feb 1711/1712 in Wethersfield, Hartford, CT. The cause of death was from some kind of epidemic. Aaron was employed 8 as merchant in Wethersfield, Hartford, CT.

North of this was a tract of some 140 acres which was taken by Aaron Goffe, of Wethersfield, in the settlement of the Cole estate. Nothing was done with the land until Solomon Goffe bought his brothers' interest in the property in 1711 after his father's death. (Historic Record of the Town of Meriden, Connecticut, 1906, Vol 2 )

RESIDENCE: According to the curator of the Solomon Goffe home, Aaron's home is still standing and is privately owned.

Aaron married 3 Hannah COLE 1, 2 daughter of Samuel COLE and Mary on 19 Jan 1681 in Wethersfield, Hartford, CT. Hannah was born on 1 Aug 1661 in Wallingford, Middlesex, CT. She died in Wethersfield, Hartford, CT.

~I, Samuel Terrey of Simsbury, do make this my last will and testament: Imprimis. After my funeral charges and all my other debts be paid, I give unto my brother John's eldest son John Terry, Jr., my home lot with my house and barn that now stands upon it, to him and his heirs forever. Also I give unto sd. John Terry, Jr., Stephen Terry, Jr., and Solomon Terry, my brother John's three sons, all my meadow and woodlands, to be equally divided amongst them. I give to my brother John's two daughters, vizt., Mary and Elizabeth, œ8 to each of them. I give to my cousin Elizabeth Holcomb, alias Goff, œ10. I give to my sister Sarah's daughter, Elizabeth Hill, œ8. I give to my brother John my gunn, team, tackling, plow, cart and plow irons. Also all my other estate not yet disposed of. And appoint him my executor.

Exhibit of an inventory of what estate of sd. Samuel Terry rested in the hands of her late husband John Terry as executor aforesd., œ68-07-00.
