Notes for Walter Edward Harmon:

By profession, Walter was a blacksmith and a welder. He died of a ruptured appendix at Jefferson Davis Hospital in Houston TX. The cemetery where he is buried (near Ardmore, OK) is located in the south central part of Carter County about four miles west of Interstate 35.

It is believed that the Harmon family went to Southern Oklahoma after 1910 to farm the rich bottom land. The Native Americans owned much of the land and leased it to white Americans. Many people from Texas and other parts of the United States came to that area after 1910. At that time there were rather heated exchanges from the politicians of Texas and Oklahoma where the actual boundry was between the two states. The Harmons lived very close to Red River where the controversy was the hottest. It is believed that the family retuned to Texas after 1920.

Helen married and divorced twice, each marriage resulting in a child. She married a third time to Charles McCain in 1982, and they moved to within 500 feet of her Mother's home SE of Denison in 1994 when Charles retired. Helen is a talented artist and homemaker. She enjoys reading, sewing, and finding new restaurants.

Celeste, or "Wes", lives with her family in Arlington, Texas, until 2000 when they moved to Aledo, Texas, near Fort Worth. Celeste is a registered nurse and works in her field.
