Harry "Papa" Coats, 89, a retired carpenter, passed away Friday, July 5, 2002, in Azle.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Walnut Creek Baptist Church in Azle. Burial: Azleland Cemetery. Visitation: Monday 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Harry was the son of Lovell and Lena Custer-Coats. He was born May 23, 1913, in Rock Island, Ill. He lived in Southern Illinois as a young boy and in 1935 served in the CCC camp. He married Mildred C. Flannigan in 1936. He was a very talented wood craftsman. As a carpenter, he built many homes and beautiful wood crafts. Harry Coats served in the Army/Air Force in World War II. Harry was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Harry moved his family to Fort Worth in 1950. He later moved to Reno in late 1968. He was preceded in death by his son, Harry "Buddy" Coats; brother, Ray Coats; parents; and three brothers-in-law, Lyman Flannigan, Wallace Hobbs and Albert Lindner.
Survivors: Wife of 65 years, Mildred Flannigan Coats; daughter, Colleen Coats Ballard; daughter-in-law, Olivia Coats Thompson; grandchildren, Kim and husband, Ricky Sullivan, Rich Byars and wife, Amy, Michelle and husband, David Coats and Kristin Ballard; great-grandchildren, Shawn Jackson and wife, Shawna, Nicholas Byars and Wendie Mac Donald and husband, Ricky; great-great-grandchildren, Trey and Aubrey Mac Donald; sister, Mina Hobbs of Cooper; sister-in-law, Beulah Lindner of Sullivan, Mo.; brother-in-law and wife, Tom and Ann Flannigan of Arizona; sister-in-law, Inez Flannigan of Chester, Ill.; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends that he loved very much.

OBITUARY: RALPH FARRINGTON Review Atlas, Tuesday, March 28, 1985
Ralph Marion Farrington, 73, of 200 East Eighth Ave., died at 8:15 p.m. Sunday in Community Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 16, 1911, in Cameron, the son of Hugh M. Ferrington (sic) and Margaret E. Coats. He married Margaret Helen Tarr on Oct. 3, 1931. They had six children, Donald E. of Galesburg, Rosemary who died in 1944, Connie Lou of Monmouth, Richard Lee of Madison, Wis., Roger Dean who died in 1984, and Elaine Redd of Monmouth.
Other survivors include two sisters, Hazel Reynolds of Monmouth, and Edna Kniss of Victoria; and one brother, Lewis Emory of Denver, Colo., and nieces and nephews.
Mr. Farrington attended the rural school at Coldbrook; then he worked and farmed locally. He worked 35 years for Wells and retired from there in 1975.
He also served during World War II in the Corps of Engineers in Europe, and was a member of the Monmouth VFW Post. He was an avid rodeo fan and enjoyed professional wrestling.
He also enjoyed listening and talking on citizens' band radio an was known locally by the handle Fuzz.
His wife, son and daughter, several brothers and sisters and two granddaughters died earlier.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Thomas Smith at the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will be at Turnbull Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Friends may call Tuesday and Wednesday until the time of services.
A memorial Fund is being established.
