Our Butler Family of Kentucky & Illinois

Second Generation

2. BUTLER 1 (James ) was born before 1765. He died before 1800 in Fairfield Co, SC.

It's possible that his first name was Jacob.

He and Elizabeth might have had a son named Shubel. Shubel Butler's listed in the tax rolls for Hart Co, KY in the same area as some of his brothers for the years 1820 (1 male over 21, 1 horse, land on Barren cr. ( no acres given) $40
), 1823 (Shubel Butler 1 male over 21, 2 horses, value $100) & 1824 (Shubel Butler 1 male over 21, 2 horses, value $100). Shubal Butler's listed in 1840 Perry Co, IN (pg 210) 0011101000000 - 1220001000000. Shubel married a Mary Porterwood and they had at least two sons named A. I. and John Shubel.
