As this is a work in progress, any new information is always welcome.
Elijah Alexander has been particularly difficult to trace for a number of reasons.
1) There are several Elijah Alexanders living in the time period.
2) His age and birthplace change from census record to census record and therefore it's hard to pinpoint just where he was living as a young man.
3) He was married twice. His second wife, Elizabeth Fulton, has been named in marriage records for Hempstead County, Arkansas as Elizabeth Frileton. And, I can't seem to find the maiden name of his first wife, Winnie.
4) Many thought that his daughter Ruth Julia (or Ruth Jane as she is sometimes called) was a descendant of William Alexander of Boone County, Kentucky so I had gone off on a tangent there.
All these things conspire to make me want to tear my hair out trying to find where Elijah was born and who his parents are. All documented help would be greatly appreciated.
