SIBLINGS: It's also possible that he is the brother of Robert R. Alexander (abt 1818 TN) who's listed in the 1860 Newton Co, AR census in Jasper, Mill Creek Twp. Not only is Robert R. from TN, he has a son Elijah, born about 1848 in TN or AR.
BIRTH: His son William Thomas Alexander's death certificate states that he was born in Wayne Co, TN. In checking the census listings for that county, I am unable to find him there. However, a circuit court record dated 7 Mar 1853 states "Ordered by the Court that Elijah ALEXANDER be appointed Overseer of the road of second Class from Indian Creek to Billy BECKHAMs old hog pen in the place of T M WHEELER and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction Issd March 7, 1853". Is this our Elijah Alexander? At the moment, it's hard to say.......
MILITARY: There's a Civil War pension record for the widow of Ellijah Rufus Alexander who served in Co E 2 AR Inf that was file 3 Nov 1916. The widow's name in this record is Mary Jane Alexander. The application number is 1085972. I don't know if this our Elijah though.
There's another record that states that Elijah was in Co F of the 2nd AR Inf as a private. This unit mustered in from the Arkansas counties of Hempstead, Washington, Sebastian, and Crawford Counties.
Elijah married (1) Winnie 1 about 1844 in TN. Winnie was born 2 about 1826 in TN. She died before 1862 in AR.
