1.        Around 1923-24, John Langley was charged and convicted with conspiracy to transport and resell liquor (during Prohibition).  He ran for his congressional seat and won, pending an appeal in his case.  He lost the appeal, and resigned his congressional seat January 11, 1926.  Katherine ran in November and was elected in his place. He served in a federal prison, but was granted clemency by President Calvin Coolidge (Cal was Pres 1923-29).

2.       Katherine was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

3.       While in Congress, John was the chairman of the Committee on Public Buildings and Grounds (66th – 68th Congresses).
