KATHERINE F. RIGGS Katherine Fleming Riggs, 94, Pleasant
Hill in Cass
County, died June 26, 1991, at a private care facility in Pleasant
Hill. She was a lifelong area resident. Mrs. Riggs was
a member of First Christian Church of Pleasant Hill
and its Christian Women's Fellowship and Church Women United. She was a member
of the Hazel Dell Community Club and a member for more than 50 years of the
Cockrell Community Club, both in Pleasant Hill.
Her husband, Edgar Riggs, died in 1961. Survivor s include
two daughters, Caralee Dodson and Nancy Riggs of Pleasant
Hill; three grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m.
Saturday at Wallace Chapel, Pleasant Hill;
burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Riggs was a baker for the Interstate Bakery for many
years.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Cameron died in 1944 trying to save their comrades during a World War II
mission. Their remains recently were found on an Indonesian archipelago, and

"Tongues Untied. " Dick Cary, 77, a jazz
arranger, instrumentalist and composer, died Wednesday in Glendale,
Calif. His arrangements were used by

She was the youngest of five children. Bernice graduated from Tarkio
High School and on July 26, 1947, she married Homer L.
Russell of Lane, KS.
Together, they lived on a farm near Lane, where Bernice enjoyed taking care of
animals, gardening, canning and preserving. For a time she was employed by
Hallmark in Kansas City, Ralph's
Food Store and JCPenney in Osawatomie,
KS. She was a member of Rahama Baptist
Church in rural Rantoul,

eight nieces and 12 nephews. Bernice was preceded in death by her father and a
brother, Ray Riggs, who was killed in Vietnam.

Mr. Riggs was born November
25, 1934, in Jasper, AR. In 1953, he entered the United States Air
Force and served in the Korean War. In 1955, he was transferred to the Olathe
Naval Air Station. In 1957, he was transferred to Turkey,
where he resided for two years. He was a member of the American Legion in Olathe,
KS. In January of 1961, he became an air
traffic controller stationed in Olathe.
He retired from the FAA in 1986. He was preceded in death by his sons, Joel K.
Riggs, in 1988; his mother Lorrene Clark; and his
father, Claude Riggs Sr. He is survived by his wife, Donna J. Riggs, of the
home; sons and daughtersin-law, Michael and Debra
Riggs, Lenexa, KS, and Bryan and Shelley Riggs; daughter-in-law, Diana
Riggs-Winter; his sisters,Luwanna, Sharon, Betty,
Barbara, Ellinor, Susie; 10 grandchildren; a
great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. ``He took away the stain of

WWII aboard the USS Highlands. An investment banker, Bill retired as a vice
president from Stern Brothers in 1982, but remained active as a financial
consultant until his death. He served on the Prairie Village City Council from
1965 to 1971. Bill was a member of the Village
Church, the Fellowship of Christian
Athletes Men's Bible Study, the Plaza Kiwanis Club, the Heart of America Fly
Fisherman's Club and he was a former member of the Johnson County Sailing
Society. Bill leaves his wife of 48 years, Alice C. Riggs; his daughter, Julia
Riggs Mullinix and son-in-law, Mark L. Mullinix of Claremont, CA; his grandsons, Mark L. ``Ren'' Mullinix Jr. and George
William Riggs Mullinix, also of Claremont; his
sister, Mary Riggs Dixon of Kansas City, MO; six nieces and nephews; and many

and had been active in the Jolly 60's for many years. Helping others was a joy
in her life. Katie had a love for children that was like no other. She was a
wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and a dear friend to all who knew her. She

was a friend of Tim McCoy's, the founder of Westport.
He graduated from Shawnee Mission
North High School.
Bob was a veteran of WWII. After arriving home, he married Ilene Gibbs in 1948.
He was a member of Ward Parkway Presbyterian Church where he was a member of
the Choir and was a soloist. He and his wife enjoyed traveling the world. He
and his brother, Morris Riggs, owned Riggs Bros. Service Station from
1958-1972. Later they owned Continental Asphalt Paving from 1969-1990. Bob
retired in 2000.
Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, IIene Riggs,
sons, Bob S. Riggs and Thomas E. Riggs, both of Overland Park, three

home in Kansas City, KS.

and was a lifelong area resident, graduating from Wyandotte
High School in 1970. He had worked
for Owens-Corning Fiberglass since 1972, where he was known as "Poo Bear", and was most recently a control operator.
He was a longtime member and current president of the Insulation Production
Workers Local #1. He was an active member of Maywood
Community Church,
and his labor of love was his 1970 Nova, which he finished in January 2004.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Janice Marie Riggs, of the home; three
sons, Daniel Riggs, Independence, MO, Joseph Riggs, Blue Springs, MO, and Keith
Stambaugh, Kansas City, KS; daughter Michelle
Lindsay, Kansas City, KS; two brothers, Bruce Riggs, Leavenworth, KS, and
George Riggs, Gladstone, MO; sister Linda Weber, Spokane, WA; and six
grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him as a husband,

was a member of General Federation of Womens Clubs
and served as Second District President for two years. She also was a member of
Chapter DS P.E.O. Sisterhood of Pleasant Hill. She attended Pleasant Hill First
Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband
Ernest Dodson, and her sister Leah Jane Riggs. Survivors include three sons,
David Dodson and wife Trudy (who has been her caregiver for the last few
months), of North Pole, AK, Dennis Dodson and wife Vilna, Springfield, VA, and
Dean Dodson and wife Judy, Granville, MA; sister Nancy Riggs, Pleasant Hill; 10

passed away Oct. 26, 2005 after
a brief but valiant fight with cancer. Clarice was born in Wayne,
KS on Oct. 30, 1926. Her formal education was completed in Salina,
KS, where she received her degree in
Business. Clarice married E. Scott Riggs on Oct. 24, 1948, at the First Presbyterian Church
in Salina, where they raised their
family. Clarice was a loving mother, active in school, church and community
activities. She later worked at Hawthorne Elementary in Salina.
In years more recent, she was employed by Colonial Presbyterian Church in Kansas
City. Clarice was preceded in deathb
y her parents, Denzel and Dora Campbell; her husband,
Scott Riggs; her two brothers, Tom Campbell and Royce Campbell. She is
survived by her children, daughter, Becky (Riggs) Morgen
and husband, Bob Morgen of Overland Park; son,
Whitney Scott Riggs of Hobe Sound, FL and three grandchildren, Ilysha D. Morgen, Sarah P. Morgen and Jacob Scott Morgen all
of Overland Park. The family wishes to express their eternal gratitude to all
the doctors, nurses and aides at University of Kansas Medical Center,
especially the staff of unit 41, Radiation Oncology and Palliative Care.

Jerry Lawton Riggs, age 67, of Lee's
Summit, MO, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2006 after a 6 1/2
year battle with cancer. Jerry was a devoted son, brother, husband, father,
grandfather, great grandfather and uncle. He is survived by his wife, Toby, of
49 years and blessed with three sons, six grandchildren and two great
grandchildren. Todd, (wife Kathy) children, Jered and Ali; Shane (wife Laurie) children Dustin and Lacy
(husband Trevor) children Cayden and Calli; Trent (fiance' Lisa) their
children Jeremy, Miranda, Sydney, Ashlyn, and
Savanna. Jerry is also survived by two loving sisters, Janice Kent
(husband Larry) and Joyce Reese (husband Martin). He was preceded in death by
his parents, Wm. (Bill) and Eula Riggs/Bonnel. Jerry was a U.S. Marine. He with his wife enjoyed
square dancing, scouting, camping, family and friends. Jerry owned his own
business and later went to work for U.S. Aluminum. If you knew Jerry, you know
he will be missed greatly by the many people who loved him and knew him and he
will not be forgotten. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 20 from 6-8 p.m. and the funeral service held Friday,
July 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the Lee's
