George Thompson I give my boy Thomas Batts till he is 20 years of age, to every one of my granddaughters as much lynen as will make them an apron, granddaughter Susannah Phillips, grandson John McDaniell one heifer at Stanley Garvers, s-i-l William Phillips, s-i-l John Canterbury, s-i-l George Thompson named Executor.   3. Anne3 Williams (Joan2, Nathaniel1) was born abt 1667 in Rappahannock, VA and died aft 1727 in Richmond, VA. She married (1) Henry Thornton bef 1686.  She married (2) James Deborde bet 1695-1703 in prob Richmond (Rappahannock) VA.  He was born bef 14 Oct 1666 in Berwick Upon Tweed (Northumberland) England.  

Child of Anne Williams and Henry Thornton is:

NOTES:
(1) Anne Williams is listed as d/o Roger Williams in Samuel Wells intent to marry Joan Williams in 1667. Anne Deboard is listed as daughter and w/o James Deboard in Joan Lloyd's will in 1703.

(2) 5 Oct 1727. Ann Deboard wife of James Deboard of NFP in Richmond Co aged Sixty years or thereabouts depsoeth and saith that she well knew Walter Pavey of the said county deceased and that he had one son Webley Pavey, who married one Sarah Trock, about 25 years ago which this Dept has not seen lately but by reports of Neighbours verily believes the said Sarah is now alive in the County, and this Dept futher saith that the said Walter Pavey's wife, mother of Webley Pavey, departed this life about 45 years ago and afterwards the said alter Pavey intermarryed with one Ann Newgent, and had by her one Daughter named Sibella, which she believes to be about 29 yrs of age and to the best of this Deponts knowledge the said Sibella is the only surviving child of the said Walter Pavey, and this Deponent further saith that is was commonly reported that the said Webley Pavey together with one Sarah Yeats, a woman which he was supposed to keep company with, went away to North Carolina about 11 yrs ago and further saith not. Sworn to in Richmond County Court the fifth day of October 1927 by Ann Deboard and on the mocon of Sibella Pavey the same is ordered to be recorder (Richmon Co Account Book part I page 15/16)

(3) NOTE by HLD: The inventory for the estate of Walter Pavey was presented on 21 Jul 1701 in Richmond. In 1729, Rogers Williams (a gs of Anne Williams Deboard) and Henry Harford sold land whose patent had been assigned to their fathers by Webly Pavey.

1) John Debord is presumed to be a son of James and Anne Williams Debord, simply because I have not found any records of another Debord family in the area.

3)The will of Ann Raynolds (Richmond Co VA WB 5 page 302) of Sunenburg (sic maybe Lunenburg) Parish, dated 18 Apr 1736 probated 7 Mar 1736/37 mentions gs Thomas Hutchinson, gd Susannah Longsworth, son Andrew Hutchinson, sil John Debord; William Coward may take his dau. that is bound to me; no exec. Wit Robert Gwillam, Robert Smith and John Alderson. p 304 inventory of Anne Raynolds presented 4 Apr 1737.

#2627: George Debord, warrant dated 21 Dec 1761 to Thomas Person to survey 700 acres in Granville Co on the br(anch) (?) of Lynches Creek, joining Jones and Hawkins lines, document is not signed, back of document reads granted 1 Aug 1762.

5) From book Miscellaneous Land Office Papers - NC State Archieves p 236:
# 2630: John Debord warrant dated 22 Dec 1761 to (surveyors name not given) to survey ___ acres in ___ County in Lynches Creek joining Thos Jones, including the vacant land between Jones' line and George Debord, including also Debord's own improvement (document is not signed). Back of document reads "Granted 1 Aug 1762".

6) Per NC Taxpayers, George Debord is listed as a Taxpayer in Bute Co in 1766.

7) 1775 Surry Co NC tax list by William Perry Johnson, 1775 Surry tax list has all listed together George Wooton, Rubin Debord, and Henry Word (Ward? Also has George Debord listed separately.

8) From Book Warren Co. NC, Abstracts of Deed Book 7 p 253:
DB-7, page 137, 15 Aug 1777. Daniel Crabb to John Hawkins, both of Bute Co., NC State 70 Pds. Currency for 640 A. in Bute Co. on Linches Creek, adj. Philemon Hawkins on W., Harbut Height of E & land formerly belong to George Debord on N. Wit: Ben Hawkins. Proved by Benjamin Hawkins, Bute November Court 1778. Thos. Machen, C C. Reg: 20 March 178_, by William Johnson, Jr., P.R.

Item 240: W Issued 6 Nov 1778. Roger Jones enters 700 A on waters of linches Creek beg at a corner in Harbert Hights line ...Col. Hawkins line & adj. lines of Thos. Cook, Augustin Willis, his own, and Jno. Hight as formerly surveyed for Geo. Deboard, 7 July 1778, signed Roger Jones.

10) 1782 Surry Co NC Tax List George Deboard 2 horses and 5 cattle, no acreage listed in Capt Wright's Dist by John Elsberry, From Journal of Surry Co Gen Assoc July 1982 p 13. The part of Surry Co that is now Yadkin.

11) 1790 Census Surry Co NC, Salisbury District p 517 George Debord 2 males greater than 16, and 6 females. NOTE: I believe the two males are George and the John Debord that married Martha Edwards

12) From Surry Co Deed Bk F 1793-97 p 24, item 181 abstracted by Mrs W. O. Absher "29 April 1795, George Long to George Deboard. 2 pds specie 100 ac waters Fisher Cr. adj. John Pendry & Mosley. Witness Thomas Wright & Joseph Warbinton. This appears to be the land that George Debord (no poll) paid taxes on between 1795 and 1797 in Surry Co NC. Note by HLD: George Long was probably son in law mentioned in will of Christian Miller in 1785 proven in 1795

5) 1800 Surry NC census: There are two John Debords listed in the 1800 Surry census one on page 647 and one on page 648: both families show 1 m < 10, 1 m 26 to 45, 2 f < 10 and 1f 16 to 26.
