Tidbits

"John Peter Fouts became a civic leader, serving as justice of the Inferior Court of Gilmer County 1846, 1849-1850 and again from 1857-1861. The Inferior Court was composed of five judges who served two-year terms and was abolished in 1868 and replaced by Gilmer County Superior Court."

"John Peter Fouts became well-known as an accomplished builder of Conestoga wagons. The quality of workmanship on his wagons was well-known throughout the area and neighboring states. His wagons had a distinctive sound that identified him as the builder."

Theobald (Dewald/David) Pfautz, age 16 or under, arrived in Philadelphia on the ship Davy in October 1738. He appears on the ship's list as "Theevia Fautzen." Fautzen is the German feminine form of the surname Fautz. (Fautz=Pfautz).
