Words too deteriorated to read have been indicated by an underscore ____ Will of William Jasper Grimes Dated: March 29, 1872 Probate 1 Jul 1872 Wayne County Tennessee I, W. J. Grimes, of the County of Wayne and State of Tennessee, do make and publish this, my last will and testament, hereby making Void, all other wills by me at any time made. First, I direct that my funeral expenses be paid out of any moneys that I may die possessed of or that may first come into the hands of my executor. Secondly, I direct that all my just debts be paid by my executor, as early after my death as possible. Thirdly, I will and bequeath unto my wife Tennessee Ann Grimes, during her natural life, the tract of land on which I now reside, and also the tract purchased by me from John H. Cole, adjoining. Together with all the aforementioned thereunto be lodging also all farming articles, household and kitchen furniture: all stock _______ _______ Cattle, Sheep and hoggs and all other personal property of whatever nature for and during her natural life with the privilege of trading in said personal property by buying and selling the procedes of said real and personal property to be applied to the maintainance, clothing and schooling of her and our children and also as hereinafter directed. Fourth. I direct that each of our children at the age of 21 years or at marriage, shall have out of the property above named, one good horse, Bridle and Saddle, one cow and calf, one bed, bedstead and furniture. Fifth. After the death of my wife Tennessee Ann Grimes, I direct that the land bequeathed to her shall be divided as follows. I will and bequeath all the land deeded by the said John H. Cole to me and my former wife Mahala A. Grimes. Sixth. After the death of my wife Tennessee Ann Grimes, I direct that all personal property of whatever nature and every ______ on hand shall be sold by my executor and the procedes equally divided among all our children. The children of my wife taking an equal share with my own. Seventh. I will and bequeath unto my two sons John A. Grimes and W. J. Grimes the tract of land purchased b me from John B. Rutledge to be divided equallly between them and I direct that they have posession of the same at my death. Eighth and lastly. I nominate and appoint John A.
