One of the big questions I've had while reading through old deeds is "What is a 'Pole?'"
I found a wonderful tutorial on how to read old deed records at Ghostseekers
This tutorial includes not only how to read old deeds, but a conversion chart of old terms to more modern units.

A special thank-you to Terri Allshouse and Roger Harvell for sending me this wonderful link Deed Platter

Back in the saddle again....
Summertime responsibilities have completly halted the progression of the Williamson county transcription project, but with summer coming to an end and school starting again soon, the transcription project is finally back on track again.

My apologies for the delay. :)

Saturday April 24th 2004

A full week of severe storms and dodging tornadoes have delayed progress on the transcription project. In fact, all projects have come to a screeching halt this week. Fortunantly things seem to be settling down a bit and I can get back into the swing of things.

Thursday March 25th 2004

In an attempt to pull some information out of the 1820 Williamson Co. Tn census, I found that I could not find it. It has not been transcribed yet, seemingly by anyone, so I hit my paid genealogy service only to be met with "No Image". So rather than spring $20.00 for a month of another paid genealogy service, I spent the same $20.00 and ordered the NARA Microfilm (which gives me publication rights [grin]) and with the help of my trusty HP Scanjet 3970 flatbed film scanner and a home-made reel holder adapter, I have finished scanning Williamson County Tn. into the computer, and have already begun transcribing it.

I will be posting updates to the file Williamson 1820 and will put it all online here once the project is completed.
