Monday evening
July 22nd Bikini (1946)

Dear Mom & Dad
     Just received your letter and sure was good to hear from you again, I was 
getting worried.  You mentioned a Radio Jamboree at the ball park, and I sure 
would have like to have been there.  Too bad I wasn't there, we could have gone.  
I'd sure like to see Bonnie and Ruth's new hair do's,  Bet their something.

     Don't worry about things and stick on, I'll be out pretty soon.  My old 
buddy "Nickerson" is getting out for discharge next week, so that's the last of 
the old gang.  You will find enclosed a letter I received from a pal of mine in 
Vandergrift, Penn. That is a perfect example of what's happening to  these boys 
all over the United States.  It sure is a shame.  You will also find that money 
I borrowed last Feb. also Norman's 10 with 10 interest. (Say) tell no one of 
this because it is a secret between you and me.  How would you like it if I gave 
the boys a twenty two rifle apiece for Xmas?  Don't tell them about this.  
Anything can happen.  What would you like me to send Dad? I have an idea.

     Well in three days the world will hear the result of this next test.  When 
you receive this you probably will have already heard the results.  If it 
happens I should kick off, Bye and "put my little shoes away" ha!  It shouldn't 
be too dangerous according to the critics, but you never can tell.  Anyway, 
don't worry I'll write you as soon as something happens.

     Well I ought to close I'm on watch and it's almost time to start copying a 
fast circuit so bye and take care of yourself.
