Martin Tillman [1860 Census, #1161]
John Landis [1860 Census #1178]
John Townsend [1860 Census, #1188]
"J. Brown" could have been one of the following children of Phillip Brown (~1760-~1848 Neave Twp., Darke Co., OH) & Catherine Slyger: Julius Brown or Jacob Brown.
Possibly land still owned by Catherine (Slyger) Brown, widow of Phillip Brown.
Caleb Brown, s/o Phillip Brown (~1760-~1848 Neave Twp., Darke Co., OH) & Catherine Slyger. Caleb Brown was the father of Mary Jane Brown, who married Patrick S.4 Shields, s/o Isaac3 Shields (Patrick2, Daniel1) and Elizabeth Rust. [1860 Census, #1168]
"J. Brown" could have been one of the following children of Phillip Brown (~1760-~1848 Neave Twp., Darke Co., OH) & Catherine Slyger: Julius Brown or Jacob Brown.
Probably Henry Brown, s/o Phillip Brown (~1760-~1848 Neave Twp., Darke Co., OH) & Catherine Slyger.
This surname is spelled MARQUITH, MARQUETH, MARKWITH. This is probably James Jones Markwith who married as his 2nd wife, Barbara Brown, dau/o Phillip Brown (~1760-~1848 Neave Twp., Darke Co., OH) & Catherine Slyger.
By the 1860 U. S. Federal Census, apparently some of the landowners shown above on the 1857 map, have died and land was passed to the heirs and/or sold. Some land owners have moved elsewhere; some have moved into Van Buren Township, Darke County, Ohio. Some perhaps merely owned the land and never resided on it, then by 1860 sold the land they owned.
