MATILDA4 "Till" SHIELDS was daughter of Isaac3 (Patrick2, Daniel1) Shields & Elizabeth Rust. She was born 27 December 1836 in either Preble County, Ohio or Darke County, Ohio. On 28 June 1856 Noah Arnold J.P. married Matilda Shields to John Curtis Rollin in Darke County, Ohio. Matilda died 09 October 1914 in probably Darke County, Ohio. John C. Roll died 26 January 1901. Both are buried at Abbottsville Cemetery, Darke County, Ohio. They were parents of nine children.

By 1910, John C. Roll is deceased and Matilda is no longer enumerated as living in Van Buren Twp., Darke County, Ohio. The remaining person in Van Buren Twp. is now the widow of Lorenzo Dow Roll, John and Matilda's eldest son. Lorenzo died in March of 1910.
