KAREN EILEEN⁸ SHIELDS, was the 3rd child and daughter of Dale Caleb⁷ Shields and Rita Marie Margaret Lehmann. She was born at the Piqua Memorial Hospital in Piqua, Miami County, Ohio. Unlike her two older sisters (Sandra & Audrey) she had blond naturally curly hair.

On the anniversary of her parents, Karen was united in marriage with Darrell Steven Richey, son of Elba Lee Richey and Ruth Henrietta Jacques. This event occurred 4 September 1970 at Muncie, Delaware County, Indiana.

To this union was born Carriann Elizabeth Richey.
