RAYMOND DALE SHIELDS, son of Caleb Shields & Hannah E. Myers, was born 12 December 1883 in Delisle, Van Buren Township, Darke County, Ohio.


Raymond grew to adulthood on a farm in Van Buren Township, Darke County, Ohio as one of four children.

Raymond Dale Shields at 16 or 17 years of age

On 18 February 1904 he was married by M. F. SHULTS V.D.M in Greenville, Darke County, Ohio to SARAH "SALLY" MARGARET CREAGER. Sarah was the daughter of Gideon Winfield Creager and Mary Jane Dunham.

Raymond was a share-cropper farmer for most of his life. The SHIELDS family lived in Darke County, Ohio and removed to Miami County, Ohio in 1922-1923. Once there the family eventually removed to Washington Township in Miami County, Ohio, where they resided in various farm homes. Raymond died on 26 November 1957 at Piqua, Miami County, Ohio. He was buried at the Abbottsville Cemetery, Abbottsville, Van Buren Township, Darke County, Ohio. His wife of 53 years is buried by his side.
