Ollie (Mills) Dickerson was the daughter of Marcus Mills and Rosetta Eliza (Harrop) Mills. Rosetta Eliza Harrop was the daughter of James Harrop, son of William Harrop. James Harrop's sister, Mary Harrop was also the step-mother of my great-grandmother, Etoila Dickerson, and her brother, Thurman Dickerson. Mary (Harrop) Dickerson was the only mother my great-grandmother (Etoila) ever knew as her natural mother died when she was only a year old. Mary (Harrop) Dickerson was born 2/10/1843 in Shelby County, Ohio. She married James D. Dickerson on 10/3/1878 in Shelby County, Ohio, and died 9/21/1926 in Maryville, Nodaway County, Missouri. She is buried there. They had no children together.
Thurman Dickerson died suddenly when he was thrown from a wagon by a run-away team of horses. He died instantly from a punctured lung. After his death, Ollie remarried several time, but still kept in touch with her sister-in-law, my great-grandmother, Etoila (Dickerson) Stevenson."
See the Stevenson family home in Missouri that has been in Krista's family since 1870. "This is where Thurman & Ollie (Mills) Dickerson often visited. The home pictured on this site still stands and is where all the many, many documents and pictures were found."
