GIDEON WINFIELD6 CREAGER, son of John C. (Carl or Christian)5 CREAGER and Sarah "Sally" Ann PRUGH, was born 6 June 1859 Van Buren Township, Montgomery County, Ohio. On 30 November 1882 he married Mary Jane DUNHAM probably in Darke County, Ohio, home of the bride. Mary Jane, daughter of James DUNHAM, Jr. and Margaret Elizabeth SLONAKER of Darke County, Ohio, was born 21 October 1864 in Darke County. Her father, James Dunham, died at Andersonville, Sumter County, Georgia as a Civil War P.O.W.. She was born 20 days after her father's demise.

The couple originally made their home in Darke County, Ohio where it appears he was given land by his father or bought land. Here their large family of eleven children were born. Sometime between 1910 & 1920 the family moved to Piqua, Miami County, Ohio.
While residing in the Greenville area they attended the Zion Reformed Church in Greenville, Darke County, Ohio, and they evidently kept their membership there through the years, even after relocating to Piqua.
