Jane Hinkle Flesch (H3/7.7) located the will of William Whitmire (W7/1.7) in
Gilmer County probate records. The will
lays to rest the question as to whether there was a Henry Whitmire (W8/1.3),
according to the letter of Lynda Dorene Whitmire Wright (W1/3.3) written
October 25, 1984:
"It took us 15 years, but we finally have proof that what
people have been saying was Henry, an original brother, is actually Henry, son
of Michael [(W8/1.1)]. This will
belongs to William Whitmire, son of Michael.
He lived to be in his seventies and evidently outlived his children. We have an earlier deed on him that mentions
his son William Whitmire and his wife Elizabeth. His son evidently died early and didn't leave any living
children."
The will, written May 2, 1850 and recorded in Gilmer County Will
Book 1850-1913, page 1, read:
