John B. Gowan was born in Tennessee in April 1871, according to his enumeration in the 1900 census.  He was married about 1897 to Ada Bailey who was born in March 1880 in Alabama.

 

In 1900, John B. Gowan was a deputy sheriff at Deport.  He was enumerated in the 1900 census of Lamar County, Enumeration District 86, page 16, precinct 3 as the head of a household consisting of:

 

          "Gowan,               John B.      29, born in TN in April 1871

                                       Ada             20, born in AL in March 1880

                                       Ida                 2, born in TX in July 1898

                                       Odes       6 /12, born in TX in February, 1900”

 

About 1902, John B. Gowan stole a horse, according to descendants and fled to Indian Territory to avoid prosecution.  He abandoned Ada Bailey Gowan and her babies, and they never heard from him again.  Legend is that John B. Gowan married a Choctaw woman and remained in Indian Territory.  Ada Bailey Gowan was remarried to G. C. Hoover April 4, 1909, according to Lamar County Marriage Book 21, page 65.

Ida Gowan, daughter of John B. Gowan and Ada Bailey Gowan, was born in July 1898.  She appeared as a two-year-old in the 1900 census enumeration of her father’s household.

 

Otis James Gowan, son of John B. Gowan and Ada Bailey Gowan, was born in February 1900 in Lamar County.  He appeared at age six months in the 1900 census enumeration of his parents’ household.  He was married to Mary B. Welchel, a native of Tennessee, about 1924 in Lamar County, Texas.  He farmed in Red River and Lamar Counties until 1927 when they moved to Ft. Worth and lived at 2217 North Main Street, according to the 1927 city directory.

 

In 1933-34 they lived at 3300 Clinton Avenue.  In 1935 he was a laborer at Ft. Worth Stockyards and lived at Brookside Acres.  They continued to live there until 1942 when they moved to 408 Palmetto.  In that year he was listed as a driver for Ft. Worth Stockyards.  In 1943 and 1947 he continued with the firm.

 

In 1960, 1961 and 1962 Mary B. Welchel Gowan was listed as a cafeteria worker at Castleberry School, according to the city directory.

 

From 1963 through 1967 Otis James Gowan was listed as a watchman for Allied Mills, according to the Ft. Worth city directory.  He and Mary B. Welchel Gowan lived at 408 Palmetto Drive from 1963 to 1973, according to the city directory.  From 1968 through 1973 Otis James Gowan was a watchman for Mutual Savings & Loan Association, according to the city directory.

 

Otis James Gowan and Mary B. Welchel Gowan received a warranty deed from W. J. Bailey July 23, 1942, to a lot in Brookside Addition, according to Tarrant County Deed Book 1519, page 163.

 

Otis James Gowan and Mary B. Welchel Gowan were interviewed at their residence at 408 Palmetto, Ft. Worth in February 1973 by Arlee Claud Gowen.  He died in August 1975.  Mary B. Welchel Gowan later remarried, husband's name Plant.

Jerel Deen Gowan, first child of Otis James Gowan and Mary B. Welchel Gowan, was born April 6, 1926, at Detroit, TX according to Lamar County Birth Book 12, page 212.  In 1943, Jerel Dean Gowan was employed by Montgomery Ward & Company and lived at 408 Palmetto, Ft. Worth, the address of his parents, according to the city directory.

 

Jerel Deen Gowan was married to Betty M. Russell April 15, 1946, according to Tarrant County Marriage Book 94, page 401.  On December 12, 1947 they received a warranty deed to property in Tarrant County from H.S. Russell, according to Tarrant County Deed Book 1962, page 361.  Betty M. Russell Gowan appeared as office secretary at Life Insurance Company of America, living at 413 Page according to the 1947 city directory of Ft. Worth. 

 

In 1949 Jerel Deen Gowan was an assembler for Hobbs Manufacturing Company living at 529 Beddell, according to the Ft. Worth city directory.  In 1959 he was employed by Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corporation and lived at 4512 Lawrence Road.  On January 6, 1950 Jerel Deen Gowan and Betty M. Russell Gowan gave a warranty deed to property in Tarrant County to Robert Hall, according to Tarrant County Deed Book 2152, page 60.  On June 28, 1950, he was remarried to Mrs. Melbe Ruth Davis, according to Parker County, Texas Marriage Book 27, page 531.

 

On October 17, 1950 Jerel Deen Gowan and Betty M. Russell Gowan received a warranty deed from H.S. Russell, according to the Tarrant County Deed Book 2247, page 221.

 

In 1952, Betty M. Russell Gowan was a stenographer for Davis, Spurlock, and Schattmann, living at 1109 College Avenue, No. 2, according to the Ft. Worth city directory.

 

On June 24, 1953, Jerel Deen Gowan was married to Mrs. Darlene Isabell Lassman, according to Tarrant County Marriage Book 111, page 228.  In that year he was listed as a welder employed at Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corporation and living at 356 Nursery Lane, according to the Ft. Worth city directory.  Darlene Isabell Lassman Gowan was listed as a checker at Wehring Super Market in the 1958 Ft. Worth city directory.

 

Apparently Jerel Deen Gowan received his third divorce about 1954.  On August 7, 1964 Jerel Deen Gowan was remarried to Darlene Isabell Lassman Gowan, according to Tarrant County Marriage Book 135, page 63.

 

In the 1964 and 1965 editions of the Ft.Worth city directory he was listed as a bartender living with his parents at 408 Palmetto Drive.

 

On May 12, 1967 “Darlene Isabell Gowan, a single woman" received a warranty deed from Jerel Deen Gowan, "a single man, formerly the husband of Darlene Isabell Gowan,” to Lot 2, Block 2, Doss Addition to Ft. Worth, according to Tarrant County Deed Book 4401, page 900.  On August 25, 1967 Darlene Isabell Lassman Gowan was married to Clyde Harding Wanberg, according to Tarrant County Marriage Book 144, page 26.

 

Jerel Deen Gowan was married for the fifth time in 1967, wife's name Bessie.  Jerel Deen Gowan and Bessie Gowan received a warranty deed from Vernon R. Tinsley November 9, 1967 to Lot 31, Block 75 Browning Heights, according to Tarrant County Deed Book 4484, page 367.

 

From 1968 through 1973 Jerel Deen Gowan was listed as a welder living at 4909 Ira, according to the Ft. Worth city directory.  Bessie Gowan, was listed in the 1973 directory at the same address as an instructor at Broadway Pre-School Nursery.

Worth city directory.  In 1971 she was living at 3200 Hamilton, Apartment 219, according to the city directory.  Cheryl Marie Gowan was married to Beecher Noah Washburn, Jr. by a military chaplain March 13, 1971, according to Palo Pinto County Marriage Book 19, page 13.

 

Hazel Louise Gowan, second child of Otis James Gowan and Mary B. Welchel Gowan, was born April 12, 1929 at Blossom, Texas, according to Lamar County Birth Book 5, page 288. 

 

Hazel Louise Gowan was married to Paul Ray Geer September 21, 1946, according to Parker County, TX Marriage Book 24, page 54.  Hazel Louise Gowan Geer was remarried to Tommy Langhum.  In 1973 they were living in Ft. Worth.

 

Donnie Ray Gowan, third child of Otis James Gowan and Mary B. Welchel Gowan, was born May 2, 1945 at Ft. Worth, according to BVS File 57993.  From 1963 through 1968, he was listed as a painter for Nu-Way Trailer Manufacturing Company living in his parents home at 408 Palmetto Drive, according to the city directory.

 

On July 13, 1965 he received a warranty deed from Federal Housing Commissioner to Lot 6, Block G, Arlington Heights Addition of Ft. Worth, according to Tarrant County Deed Book 4090, page 174.  On August 31, 1965 he was married to Nancy Hogan, according to Tarrant County Marriage Book 138, page 37.

 

On October 26, 1965 he gave an affidavit to the public to cover the embarrassment of the Federal Housing Administration stating that although he was a single man and a minor at the time he contracted with the Federal Housing Administration, he would honor the agreement.  The affidavit was filed in Tarrant County Deed Book 4134, page 111.

 

Donnie Ray Gowan and Nancy Hogan Gowan were divorced about 1967.  They were remarried August 30, 1968, according to Tarrant County Marriage Book 147, page 431.  Later the couple was again divorced.

 

On June 27, 1970 Donnie Ray Gowan was married to Linda Armstrong.  In 1970 and 1971 Donnie Ray Gowan was employed by Bell Helicopter, according to the Ft. Worth city directory.  In February 1973 Donnie Ray Gowan and Linda Armstrong Gowan were living at 700 East Glendale, Crowley.

Gowan [or Guyan] Foster, fifth son of James Foster and Ida Killebrew Foster, was born June 23, 1910 at Thomastown, Mississippi in Leake County.  He was enumerated at age 10 as “Guyan Foster” in the household of his step-father, Tilman J. Addy and Ida Killebrew Foster Addy in the 1920 census of Lamar County.  He was married to Annie Lee Horde who was born November 13, 1913, according to Wanda Lou Foster of Paris, Texas.  Gowan Foster became a 32nd degree Master Mason November 17, 1953 while a member of Cedar Grove Lodge No. 403.

 

Gowan Foster died May 11, 1990 in Shreveport, Louisiana and was buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Lamar County.  She died in Shreveport September 14, 1998 at the age of 84 and was buried beside her husband.

"James Goen," a resident of Big Valley, Texas in Lampasas County received a warranty deed from Aaron Prescott and wife of San Saba County, TX for 160 acres of land October 14, 1884, according to Lampasas County Deed Book P, page 489.  Deed to the land, which was later located in Mills County, TX, was also recorded in Mills County Deed Book 8, page 539.  "James Goen" received a release on his deed of trust Au­gust 15, 1887.

 

On the following day, James Goyne and his wife, Mrs. R . C. Goyne of Lampasas County [later Mills County] gave a war­ranty deed to William Cooksey August 16, 1887 to 160 acres of land for $600, according to Mills County Deed Book 5, page 582.  The land was located 35 miles northeast of Lampasas, TX.  James Goyne received a deed from Susan J. Carpenter July 22, 1889 to 40 acres of land in Mills County for $300, according to Mills County Deed Book 9, page 531.

Sam Goins, negro, was born about 1877 in Texas to Sam Goins and Emily Goins, according to BVS Death Certificate 31893.  He became a farmer and a preacher, according to his widow, Sarah Goins of Route 1, Hicks.  Sam Goins died of a ruptured appendix, peritonitis and pyelitis July 11, 1928 in Cameron according to Dr. W. R. Newton who performed an appendectomy on him July 8, 1928.  He was buried in Sand Hills Cemetery in Lee County.

William Zachary “Zackie”" Goings was born in Arkansas in 1854.  About 1875 he was married to Anna Eliza Ballard, who was born in Alabama in 1857.

 

“Zachury Goings,” believed to be William Zachary Goings, appeared in the 1870 census, state and county unknown, living in the household of Miriam Turham, who was born in Virginia.  “Zachury Goings, age 17, white male farm laborer” was born in Arkansas, according to the census return.  He was married about 1878 to Anna Eliza Ballard.

 

In 1895 William Zachary “Zackie”" Goings and Anna Eliza Ballard Goings, lived in Hubbard, Texas where their tenth child was born.  Dr. John L. Goings was the physician who attended Anna E. Ballard Goings at the birth.  He later maintained an office at 4527 East Grand Street, Dallas, Texas.

 

William Zachary “Zackie” Goings showed his profession as a farmer in 1895.

 

"Zachary Gowan" a laborer, lived at 148 Cockrell Avenue in 1906, according to the city directory of Dallas, Texas.

 

William Zachary “Zackie” Goings died prior to 1915.  Anna Eliza Ballard Goings, "widow of William Zachariah Goings" appeared in the 1915 city directory of Dallas, Texas living at 820 Kentucky.  In 1916 she lived at 824 Kentucky, and in 1917 she lived at 617 Kentucky.  In 1918 she lived at 1709 Third Avenue and in 1919 at 4408 Bute.

 

Anna Eliza Goings died in Dallas April 1936, according to BVS File 19636.

“John Goings” operated a lunch stand in Dallas, Texas and lived at 152 Motley, according to the 1904 city directory of Dallas.  “Miss Margaret Goings,” believed to be his sister, an operator for Rose Manufacturing Company, lived at the same address in 1904, according to the city directory.

 

John L. Goings was the father of an infant born March 27, 1913, according to BVS Files.  It is believed that the birth occurred in Dallas County.

 

John L. Goings was listed as a painter in the 1915 city directry of Dallas living at 809 South Pacific.  In 1917 he was listed as a tentmaker, living at 617 Kentucky, the address of his mother.  Apparently he was a widower at this time.

 

In the 1918 city directory of Dallas he was listed as a mechanic for Dallas Tent & Awning Company, living at 1511 Second Avenue near, the residence of his sister, Jewel Goings.

 

John L. Goings was the father of an infant born in Dallas County February 26, 1916, according to BVS File 5935.

 

John L. Goings was married to Mary Griffin, perhaps as his second wife, December 30, 1919, according to Dallas County Marriage Book 28, page 315.  They lived at 303 South Pearl Street.

 

In 1928 John L. Goings, a painter, and Mary Griffin Goings lived at 317 Sewall, Abilene, Texas, according to the city directory.

 

John L. Goings and Marry Griffin Goings received a deed to a residence in Abilene November 12, 1916, according to Taylor County Deed Book 176, page 511.  The property was released to them January 6, 1927.  On March 6, 1928 they gave a trustee's deed to E.V. Chambers and Company on a lot in Abilene, according to Taylor County Deed Book 216.

 

John L. Goings, a painter, and his wife Mary Griffin Goings were living at 317 Sewall, according to the 1928 city directory of Abilene.

 

Cecil Goings, believed to be a son, appeared at the same address in 1928, according to the Abilene city directory.

 

John L. Goings died June 4, 1950 in Dallas County, according to BVS File 27445.

Eva Goings, believed to be the fourth child of William Zachary “Zackie” Goings and Anna Eliza Ballard Goings, was born about 1885.  She was an ironer for Dallas Steam Laundry, lived at 117 Watt, according to the 1908 city directory of Dallas.  In 1909 she was listed by the directory as a folder at the Dallas Steam Laundry living at 145 Ann Avenue.  On November 8 1911, she was married to T.A. Donnelly, according to Dallas CountyMarriage Book 12, page 363.

                                              

Maud Goings, believed to be the fifth child of William Zachary “Zackie” Goings and Anna Eliza Ballard Goings, was born about 1887.  In 1908 she lived at 117 Watt, the address given by Eva Goings, believed to be her sister.  In 1909 she lived at 112 Watt according to the city directory.

                                             

Edgar Adolphos Goings, believed to be the sixth child of William Zacharcy “Zackie” Goings and Anna Eliza Ballard Goings, was born about 1889. “Edgar Goings” boarded at 74 Cement in Dallas, according to the 1909 city directory..

 

Edgar Adolphos Goings was married to Cora McClendon Hall July 11, 1914, according to Dallas County Marriage Book 18, page 361.  They continued to live in Dallas in 1916.    He was listed as a contractor living at 2728 Clarence by the 1917 city directory of Dallas.  He appeared in the 1918 edition as a contractor living at 4117 Willow.

Goings, believed to be the seventh child of William Zachary “Zackie” Goings and Anna Eliza Ballard Goings, was born about 1891.  He was listed as a helper at Mosher Manufacturing Company, residing at 123 Sydney, according to the 1906 edition of the Dallas City directory.  In 1909 and 1910 he lived at 145 Ann Avenue.  From 1910 through 1918 he was listed as a painter or painting contractor in the Dallas city directory.  In 1911 he lived at 609 Ann Avenue.  In 1912 he lived at 300 North Peak.  In 1913, he lived at 3811 Wyatt.  In 1914 he lived at 2723 Clarence, according to the city directory.  In 1915 and 1916 he was listed as a painter living in 820 Kentucky, the address of his widowed mother.  In the 1917 edition of the directory he was “rooming at 802 Expostion Avenue.”  In 1918 he was listed at 1709 Third Avenue, the address of his mother.

 

Edward J. Goings, 303 South Peak, Dallas, was married to Bessie Mae McJunkin January 27, 1920, according to Dallas County Marriage Book 28, page 452.  Of Edward J. Goings and Bessie Mae McJunkin Goings and descendants nothing more is known.

 

Hattie B. Goings, believed to be the ninth child of William Zachary “Zackie” Goings and Anna Eliza Ballard Goings, was born about 1893.  In 1916 she was listed in the Dallas city directory as living at 820 Kentucky, the address of her mother.

 

In the 1918 edition of th directory she was listed as Hattie M. Goings, living at 1709 Third Avenue, the address of her mother.  In 1919 she was listed as an employee of Sanger Bros. And lived at 4408 Bute, also the address given by her mother.

 

Malvern Goings, tenth child of William Zachary “Zackie” Goings and Anna Eliza Ballard Goings, was born  at Hubbard, Texas January 19, 1895, according to Limestone County Birth Book 9, page 224.

 

On October 17, 1914 Malvern Goings was married to Lillie Mae Carpenter in Hunt County, Texas, according to Hunt County Marriage Book 8, page 325.

 

Malvern Goings was listed in the 1915 city directory of Dallas as a painter living at 416 South Beacon.  In 1918 he was listed as a painter living at 105 South Peak.  In the 1919 city directory of Dallas he was a motorman living at 4112 Elm.

 

It is believed that they lived in El Paso, Texas in 1930.

 

In the 1934-35 edition of the Tyler, Texas city directory Malvern Goings, a salesman, and Lillie Mae Carpenter Goings were shown at 507 Wilson Street.

 

Malvern Goings and Lillie Mae Carpenter Goings gave a deed to M. K. McDonald November 5, 1941 to property in Fannin County, Texas, according to Fannin County Deed Book 252, page 85.

 

On September 24, 1955 Malvern Goings and Lillie Mae Carpenter Goings “of Pike County, Ohio” gave a warranty deed to Ida James, a widow of Dallas County, Texas, land in Wood County, Texas, according to the Wood County Deed Book 416, page 90.  On the same day they [then of Wood County, Texas] received a deed from R.E. Brogden to 25 acres of land in Wood County for $4,750, according to Wood County Deed Book 409, page 353.

 

In 1968 Malvern Goings was a carpenter, living at 605 West 7th Street, Mt. Pleasant, Texas.  He died there May 21, 1968 at th ageof 73 and was buried in Jarrett Cemetary, according to Titus County, Texas Death Book 7, page 549.  He was never in the military, according to Bessie Goings, informant.

 

On September 30, 1974 Lillie Mae Carpenter Goings received  a release of land on the Wood County property from the Federal Land Bank of Houston, according to Wood County Deed Book 687, page 654.

Jewel Goings, believed to be the eleventh child of William Zachary “Zachie” Goings and Anna Eliza Ballard Goings, was born about 1897.  In 1917 she was listed in the Dallas city directory as a resident of 617 Kentucky, the address of her mother.  In 1918 she was listed as a machine operator for Dallas Tent and Awning Company, living at 1411 Second Avenue.  In 1919 she was listed in the directory as a seamstress for Fulton Bag and Cotton Mills rooming at 1613 First Avenue

F. X. Gowans of Mexia in Limestone County received oil and gas leases during August and September, 1921 to 4,970 acres in Freestone County, Texas, according to Freestone County Deed Book 66, pages 189-230.

 

On October 11, 1921 he filed a declaration of trust recorded in Freestone County Deed Book 65, page 77.  The declaration announced the organization of Mexia Freestone Syndicate, a common law trust estate organized for 21 years to deal in minerals and royalties.  Ten thousand shares were to be sold at $10 per share.

 

F. X. Gowans began an oil well in Freestone County, encountered financial trouble and had to sub-lease his interest to Root, Knepley & Agate.  On September 14, 1922 F. X. Gowans and others executed an agreement with W. T. Cole for the completion of the well, according to Freestone County Deed Book 70, page 630.

 

F. X. Gowans received an assignment from W. B. Hoke March 27, 1922 for 15 acres in Limestone County, according to Limestone County Deed Book, 152, page 174.

 

Apparently F. X. Gowans lost out in the venture.  In 1924 he turned up in Wichita Falls, Texas.  In the city directory of that year he was listed as an “advance agent” officing at  1 Ward Building and Rooming at 1000 Burnett.

 

F. X. Gowans, “of Tarrant County, Texas,” trustee for Kerr Company, received a release of deed of trust June 24, 1922 from Kerr Company to some lots in Diamond Hill Addition, Ft. Worth, Texas, according to Tarrant County Deed of Trust Book 745, page 43.

Jones for a consideration of $1,552.55, according to Madison County Deed Book 77, page 354.

 

On August 7, 1963 Oscar Lee Goines and Linne Ferguson Goines sold this property to Thomas Adams for $3000, according to Madison County Deed Book 150, page 497.  In 1963 Oscar Lee Goines and Linnie Ferguson Goines lived on South May Street, Madisonville, Texas.

 

Oscar Lee Goines died of cancer August 20, 1963, according to Madison County Death Book 6, page 7.  He was buried at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Madison County, according to Shirley Faye Goines McVey, informant.

He was married at age 16 to Miss Viola Craig on November 3, 1937, according to Walker County Marriage Book R, page 237.  He was a farmer in Madison County, TX in 1940.

 

On August 12, 1943 he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in New Caledonia, Solomon Islands, Marshall Islands, Mariana Islands, and Volcano Islands.  He participated in the Battles of Guam and Iwo Jima.  He received no wounds, according to Walker County Discharge Book 3, page 457.  He returned to his home in Walker County, TX after World War II.

 

He was a student in 1947.  In 1948 he was employed in public works in Huntsville.  Marvin Lee Goines and Viola Craig Goines received a deed from Gibbs Bros. Company to Walker County property, on January 2, 1961, according to Walker County Deed Book 171, page 80.  He gave an easement on the property to Gulf States Utilities July 13, 1970, according to Walker County Deed Book.  He gave the company another easement June 24, 1971 on 157 acres of land in the Davids Survey in Walker County, according to Deed Book 236, page 707.

 

Marvin Lee Goines and Viola Craig Goines received a release from the first Rediscount Corporation September 20, 1972 on property in Walker County, according to Walker County Release Book 6, page 404.

J. D. Goyne was born November 9, 1852 in Arkansas of parents unknown according to William Mazrow Goyne.  In 1935 J. D. Goyne, widowed, retired farmer, was living in Shackleford County, Texas.  He died December 22, 1935 of pneumonia at age 83, according to Shackelford County Death Book 1, page 120.

 

He was buried at Albany, Texas, according to William Mazrow Goyne, informant for the death certificate, of Route 4, Waco, Texas.

 

James Goyne, who is listed in the 1880 census of Bosque County, Texas is possibly the J. D. Goyne above.

R. M. Goings received a warranty deed from D. Eckert and wife December 1, 1903, according to Mills County Deed Book 22, page 301.  He also received a warranty deed from G. B. Stark December 16, 1903, ac­cording to Mills County Deed Book 22, page 323.

 

On November 3, 1905 R. M. Goings and his wife, Mrs. L. A. Goings of Mills County, gave a warranty deed to A. E. Weath­ers, receiving $4,500 in a real estate transaction recorded in Mills County Deed Book 24, page 275. He received a release from A. E. Weathers June 17, 1908, according to Mills County Deed Book 29, page 415.

 

R. M. Goings received a warranty deed from William W. Cromer to 25 acres of land located 12 miles northeast of Ft. Worth, at Bedford, Texas for $1,500 September 5, 1906, ac­cording to Tarrant County Deed Book 240, page 357.   He re­ceived a transfer of a vendor's lien note from Julia M. Reagan April 6, 1907, according to Mills County Deed Book 29, page 416.  He received a warranty deed from Julia M. Reagan April 13, 1907 to a lot in North Ft. Worth Addition, according to Tar­rant County Deed Book 259, page 335.

 

R. M. Goings was declared "a person of unsound mind" Febru­ary 27, 1907, according to Tarrant County Probate Book 13, page 134.

 

R. M. Goings and Mrs. L. A. Goings gave a warranty deed November 12, 1907 to 24 acres of land, probably the Bedford property, according to Tarrant County Deed Book 265, page 508.

 

R. M. Goings received a warranty deed from R. M. Currie May 14, 1908 to 22 acres of land in the J. B. Eden Survey, according to Tarrant County Deed Book 289, page 508.  He received a release from A. E. Weathers on 117 acres of land June 17, 1908, according to Mills County Deed Book 29, page 419.

 

R. M. Goings died in Travis County, Texas January 8, 1909 "while temporarily in that county", according to a statement made by Mrs. L. A. Goings in Tarrant County Deed Book 320, page 428. She made the declaration in connection with a real estate trade with W. G. Booth January 14, 1910.  She also men­tioned that they had four children, three of whom died in in­fancy, unnamed.

 

Iris K. Goings, feme sole, over 21, joined her mother in trans­ferring eight acres of land to W. G. Booth.  Mrs. L. A. Goings of Beaver County, Oklahoma joined her daughter, Mrs. Iris K. Goings Phillips and her husband, J. T. Phillips of Logan, Okla­homa in giving another warranty deed to W. G. Booth March 1, 1912 to eight acres, according to Tarrant county Deed Book 398, page 133.

 

In connection with the sale of a lot in North Ft. Worth Addition Mrs. L. A. Goings gave an affidavit to the public that she was a widow on January 10, 1910. The affidavit was dated August 27, 1921, according to Tarrant County Deed Book 707, page 499.

Iris K. Goings, daughter of R. M. Goings and his wife, L. A. Goings, was born about 1888.  She was married about 1908 to J. T. Phillips.  In 1912 they lived in Logan, Oklahoma.

Roy A. Goins was born March 25, 1924 in Mills County in the Elkins Community, according to his obituary.  He was a lifetime resident of Brown County, Texas.  He was married there to Callie Caroline Muhle September 27, 1952.  He was employed by the City of Brownwood and was a member of the Coggin Av­enue Baptist Church.

 

He died August 31, 1992 in Brownwood Regional Hospital.  Funeral services were held September 3, 1992 at Davis-Morris Funeral Home in Brownwood, and he was buried in Wolf Val­ley Cemetery.

 

His obituary mentioned that he was survived by a brother, John Goins and three sisters, Cora Goins Bible, Ruth Goins Bien and Evelyn Goins Cole, all of Brownwood.

Sherri Goins, daughter of Roy A. Goins and Callie Caroline Muhle Goins, was born about 1958.  She was married about 1978, husband's name Rivard.  In 1992 they lived in Brown­wood.

 

Jeannie Goins, daughter of Roy A. Goins and Callie Caroline Muhle Goins, was born about 1960.  She was married about 1980, husband's name Stelle.  In 1992 they lived in Clearwater, Florida.

 

Darrell Goins, son of Roy A. Goins and Callie Caroline Muhle Goins, was born about 1963.  In 1992 he lived at Zephyr, Texas.

 

Gary Goins, son of Roy A. Goins and Callie Caroline Muhle Goins, was born about 1967.  In 1992 he lived in Brownwood.

 

T. B. Goyne and E. W. Taylor were the patentees to 638 acres of land in Mills County located 14.5 miles southeast of Goldthwaite, Texas, according to Mills County Deed Book 11, page 54. The land had been previously granted to M. E. P. & P. Railroad Company December 16, 1861 and was transferred to T. B. Goyne and E. W. Taylor.
