This is an ongoing project seeking to chart out lines of descent that have been DNA tested as shown on the Harris Y-DNA Results Page. Information is based on DNA results, lineage information supplied by kit submitters, Bible records, vital records, legal documents, census records, family histories, internet sources, etc. In some cases the paper trail and/or information found on the web or other sources may be in error. Please view this information as a tool and not as proven fact.

NOTICE: Information presented in these webpages is not to be construed as PROVABLE FACTS. It is up to the user to verify all information that he/she receives. Some information has been provided by kits submitters and their own research. Other information has been added from other sources. Additions and corrections are welcome.

Lineage information in pointed brackets < > lists the Group Number and the DNA Kit Number as found on the Harris Y-DNA Results Page. Additional information will be included as more DNA markers are tested and as more participants match up with this grouping.

This group belongs to the I1 haplogroup. For information on Genetic Distances in Group 2, view this page: Genetic Distances - Group 2

Here are lineage charts (supported by DNA) that fall into Group 2 of the Harris Y-DNA Results. All spouses are not shown—only the ones that are listed as the parent of the generation that follows. For questionable generations, the names are preceded by an asterisk *. This means the connection between the person with an asterisk and the previous generation are unproven.

The modal listing of Group 2 up to 67 markers is listed on the HARRIS Y-DNA RESULTS Page.

In order to better compare matches in Group 2, the modal listing has also been posted on Ysearch with a user ID of E8JNS. To view the modal listing go to the Ysearch user ID page for E8JNS

For an exact match to this group, the submitter must be a male with the HARRIS surname, be from the same haplogroup, and the DNA markers from his kit number should match exactly with these results. In most cases there will be at least one variation in DNA marker values. If the two test kits are from close relatives, then the variation is due to normal mutations of DNA. DNA mutations may occur every 4 or 5 generations. Some specific markers tested are known to mutate faster than others.

At this time it looks like there are 7 different progenitors or earliest known ancestors represented in Group 2. Although the DNA appears to match closely, the connection between these lines has not yet been determined.

Lineage #7.—DNA Kit #68776—ID #JXPE7. This is for the line of Andrew Jackson Taylor (1909-1978). He is a son of Pittman V. Taylor (1876-1964) of Mississippi and Texas.

The submitter of this kit has joined the Harris DNA Project because his DNA matches others of Harris Group 2; however, he appears to have no Harrises or Harris associations in his lineage, so there appears to not be any Harris DNA connection. This kit also closely matches DNA markers of other surnames, such as Cook, Raver, Barrett, Kile, Bright, etc. It seems odd, but as far as I can determine, this submitter has not joined the Taylor DNA Project. That seems to be the more likely group for him to join.

This kit’s paternal country of origin is listed as Lithuania, although the Taylor line appears to be English in origin. Audrey (Shulmistras) Taylor’s parents were both born in Lithuania is where the country of origin comes in at, but that is not the strict paternal line. This family’s migration pattern is: Alabama > Perry Co., MS > Forrest Co., MS > Cook Co., IL > Dallas Co., TX.

This Kit’s user ID is JXPE7. Additional information on the paternal line back to Pittman V. Harris (1876-1964) can be found on Family Tree DNA’s user ID page for JXPE7

This kit is a 67-marker test that matches the 67-marker modal for Group 2 with one variance at marker 55, but the surname is different. This kit belongs to the I1 haplogroup.
