James Ellis Stubbs entered the Army of the United States 16 September 1942 at Ft. McPherson Georgia.  Date and place of birth is 05 November 1921, Amboy Georgia. 
His civilian employment was as a General Farm hand.  Worked on a 55 acre farm owned by W. M. Wilson near Rebecca Georgia from April 1932 until September 1941.  Planted, cultivated and harvested cotton, corn, peanuts, and vegetable crops.  Plowed with mules and tractor.  Cared for livestock and poultry.  Made minor repairs on farm buildings, tools, and equipment.

SUMMARY OF MILITARY OCCUPATIONS

SURGICAL TECHNICIAN - Was in the Pacific Theater of Operations in a Medical Detachment with   the 7th. Infantry Division.  Participated in the Aleutians Islands, Eastern Mandates, Southern Philippines and Ryukyus campaigns.  Advanced with the Infantry on all their landings.  Treated men as soon after they were hit as possible.  Performed first aid on all types of wounds.  Was wounded carrying out his duties on Leyte in the Philippines.
