Note from Heather researcher: "I am in the process of analyzing over 30 "Miller Roll" applications submitted in 1906 by the descendants of James Heatherly. Think I will be able to come up with some very good lineage data. It appears that a Mary Heatherly did have a son James aka James Heatherly and his father was an Indian named James Haines. Mary and James did not live together so were probably not married. Mary had two other sons, Thomas Heatherly, father unknown and Alexander Rutherford son of Benjamin & Mary." E. Cater Leland, Jr.
