The Last Will and Testament of Barbara Lindamood
of Washington County, Virginia

Will book 19, pgs 99, 100

I, Barbara Lindamood of the County of Washington and State of Virginia being of Sound mind do make and ordain this my last will and Testament hereby revoking all other wills by me heretofore made.
First after the payment of all my debts. I give and devise to Elosson L. Booher ten acres of land commencing at the Chestnut Corner to be selected by him. Second I give and devise to John Lane and Polly his wife the house in which they live at this time and forty acres of land around it. during their lives or as long as they live upon it. and after their deaths to Mary Jones if alive. if she dies before her father and mother then to George Mumpower, Abrum Mumpower, and Catherine Shuttle equally. Mary Jones is to pay George Mumpower, Abrum Mumpower and Catherine Shuttle each ten dollars when she gets possession of the land. Third I give and devise to Samuel Hartsock the house in which he lives at this time and the lot attached during his life or as long as he lives in the house - Fourth I give and devise to George Mumpower and Ellen his wife, to Abrum Mumpower and to Catherine Shuttle all my other lands to be equally divided between them including the house and lot devised to Samuel Hartsock if they cannot agree upon the division the land to be sold and money divided equally between them. Fifth all my household and kitchen furniture farming implements and stock of every kind is to be sold by my executor and he is to pay the following bequests:
First Isaac Mumpower twenty dollars. Second William H. Mumpower son of William forty dollars Third Marium Mumpower widow of Peter Mumpower twenty dollars. I give to Cassa Mumpower my big wash pot.

In testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand and affix my seal this 18th day of July 1873.

At a Court begun and held for Washington County the 26th day of June 1876. The last will and Testament of Barbara Lindamood was produced in Court and proved by the oath of H C Gibbons and W H Mumpower the two subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded and on motion of Joseph Smith who took the oath of an administrator with the will annexed prescribed by law and together with Wm H Mumpower J D Layne and J H Bottles his Securities entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of four hundred dollars. Conditioned as the law directs. A Certificate is therefore granted him for obtaining letters of admintration with the will annexed of Barbara Lindamood decd in due form.
