Graveside services for James H. Whitaker, Jr., 73, Tushka, were held at 2 p.m., on Tuesday, February 20, 2001 at
Caney (Stewart) Cemetery with Rev. Bob Johnson officiating.
Atoka Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
A veteran of World War II, Whitaker died Sunday, February 18, 2001 at Atoka, OK.
Born at Tushka on September 9, 1927, he was the son of J. H. Whitaker and Nellie Malvich Whitaker. He was formerly
manager of Oklahoma Tire and Supply in Atoka.
He was married to Margaret Louise Tallant at Fort Worth, Texas on December 23, 1946. She preceded him in death
November 18, 1984.
Also preceding him in death were a son, Tony Whitaker; a granddaughter, Charity Phillips; his mother, Nellie Malvich
Whitaker; his father, J. H. Whitaker; two brothers, Earl Whitaker and Harvey Whitaker; and four sisters, Alene
Shannon, Eutha Southerland, Verna Ray and Ethel Rodgers.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Allen and husband, Tommy, Arlington, Texas; Phyllis Phillips and husband,
Grover, and Ellen Glover and husband, Frank, all of Atoka; one son, Ron Whitaker of Tushka; seven grandchildren;
one sister, Jewel Crump, Fort Worth, Texas; a sister-in-law, Ola Whitaker of Atoka; also several nieces and nephews,
and a host of friends.
