Was born in Logan county, Kentucky, April 10, 1826. His father, Josias Wade, was born in Kentucky. In 1804 he was married to Miss Cynthia, daughter of William and Sarah Owens. They had a family of eight children, of whom the subject of this sketch is the eldest. Two or three years after his marriage, he moved to Missouri, and from there to Illinois, where he engaged in agricultural pursuits. He has now retired from active business, and is residing in Griggsville.
Mrs. Wade, mother of William, died in 1868. Mr. Wade is now living with his second wife.
Richard receiving his early training in the schools of this state. In the winter of 1848, he was married to Miss Mary Paulin. She died in December, 1849, leaving a son, who survived but a few months. After a lapse of three years Mr. Wade was married to Lucy Ann Bennett. They have a family of eight children, seven of whom are now living. At present he is residing on his beautiful farm in Flint township. In politics he is an uncompromising republican.
