Was born in Germany, in the year 1816, and emigrated to the United States in 1832, locating in Pennsylvania, where
he remained two years, and then moved to Pike county, Illinois, and settled on section 7, in Spring Creek township.
He lived on that farm for eight years, when he purchased another on section 19, in the same township, upon which
he now resides.
Mr. Windmiller has been one of the most successful farmers and stock raisers of this country. The Louisiana branch
of the St. Louis railroad running through his home farm, and he being a man of enterprise, has built a fine house
close to where the depot is to be built, and has opened a good hotel in the flourishing little town of Nebo, where
the weary traveler will find good accommodation. Mr. Windmiller is the father of twelve children — seven sons and
five daughters, nine of whom are still living, and doing well.
