Was born in Pike county, Missouri, in the year 1825, and in 1828 he moved with his parents to Pike county, Illinois, and settled in Martinsburg township, where he remained with his parents and worked on his father's farm until 1847, when he married Miss Julia A. Duffield, and settled on a farm of his own, on sections 5 and 6, in Hardin township, Ill., where he has since resided engaged in farming, and raising stock. He is now the father of eight children, seven of whom are yet living, viz.: Marion N., Jno, Thomas, Sarah C., Isaac N., James Fisher, Wm. Frederick.
His father, Fisher Petty, was born in the state of Ohio. His mother's maiden name was Sarah Jackson. She was born in the state of Kentucky, and emigrated to the state of Illinois, in the year 1828.
Mr. Petty is a good citizen, a man of energy and enterprise, and in his farming operation he has been quite successful.
