According to the participant, there is a Henry County, IA, biography of Jacob Shipman Kinney stating she was Betsey Hunt, a native of Germany.  However he thinks the Henry Co. biography somehow confused her with John's sister Elizabeth who married Thomas Hunt. He has since found a Mills Co., IA, biography of Charles Phillip Kinney, son of Aaron, son of John, that gives her name as Betsey Shaner. There were both Hunt and Shaner families in Lycoming (Northumberland) Co., PA, in the early 1800’s; however, the Hunt families were very likely English while the Shaner families were Germany. Hence, he thinks Shaner is correct. This is supported by the 1810 census record for Muncy Creek Twp., Lycoming Co., PA, that shows Shaner families living very close to Jacob Shipman and Peter Kinney and, very likely, John Kinney was living with Jacob Shipman.
