Group 3	CT–Alexander?	Common ancestor may be Alexander Keeney, d. 1680 CT
Group 5	VA/WV Keeney	Some share paper trails to John Keeney of Greenbrier VA/WV.
Group 10	Aus. & Can.	An Irish Kenny line that appears in Australia and Canada (shared ancestor not known)
Group 11	McK/K Irish	An Irish line that appears to have McKinney and Kenny descendants in the Americas
Group 15	Kenn*y ISP	An Irish line that appears in Ireland, Scotland, and PA (shared ancestor not known)
Group 16	Ballyglass	A line from Ballyglass, Galway, Ireland (shared ancestor not known)
Group 17	DE/MD KY?	William Kinney of DE/MD, d. 1770 (may be related to William of Delaware Bay 1675)
Group 21	PA/IN Kinney	Kinney of PA and IN (shared ancestor not known)
Group 22	JBK? Kvny?	Line linked to John Barnett Kenney of IRE, VA, KY; also matches Irish Keaveney/Kaveney/etc.
Group 23	P & J of A & C	Another Irish line that appears in Australia and Canada (shared ancestor not known)
Group 25	KY Kinney	All report Kentucky locales (shared ancestor not known)
Group 26	Connaught?	An Irish line in Canada, possibly from Leitrim, Connaught (shared ancestor not known)
Group 88 (click below)	NO MATCH YET	Each participant is waiting for a match to the Kinney surname variation. Haplogroup indicates a common male European ancestor who lived long before the existence of surnames (thousands of years ago).
Haplogroup	R1b of Ireland	These R1bs have no matches yet but all report Irish heritage.

How group numbers are assigned
Group number 1 was assigned to the first group in the project to have enough matches to establish a family group, Group 2 to the second, Group 3 to the third, etc.
Missing group numbers were assigned to McKinney (at one time McKinney was included in the Kinney project; link to McKinney is at the top of this page).
