Francois Dutech

of Tarbes, France

According to family tradition, a member of the Dutech family was a drummer or a flag boy of Napolean. Napolean was so pleased with his service that he gave him a document stating that any ancestor of his could attend the French Military Academy free -- forever. The family stated there was a document to this effect, signed by Napolean. The reported document has disappeared (as have other known family papers).

The following probably refers to our Francois Dutech (father of Joseph Dutech, of Tarbes): [April 2004]
