Foreign orders:
Mailing fee is $4 for domestic first class mail. Prices are in US $. Payment may be in US $ denominated check or credit card. You may need to complete a Customs Declaration form when you return your test kit. FTDNA recommends that you put "genealogy swabs" on the form. The time for the kit to arrive back at FTDNA will depend on your country, the route the package takes through customs, and Homeland Security.

* If you only are interested in the HV1 test and do not expect to upgrade in the near future.  This test can be purchased for $99 (plus handling) from the National Geographic Genographic Project. The order includes a DVD and map.  The Genographic Project does not provide match information but because FTDNA processes the kits for the Genographic Project, once your results are in, you can include your results in the FTDNA database (no charge).  At that point you will have access to the FTDNA database and matches.  If you order the Genographic kit, when the kit arrives be sure you do not lose the i.d. code.  If lost or misplaced, Genographic can not assist you.  Once you have included your information in the FTDNA database, you will receive yet another Kit Number and a pass code.  Be sure to keep these Genographic and FTDNA codes in a place where you can find them.

** From the FTDNA web site:
mtDNA Full Sequence: The purpose of offering a Full Mitochondria Sequence test is to: a) more accurately establish the actual mutation rate of the female inherited mtDNA; b) apply statistics to more accurately predict when two people who match identically likely shared a MRCA (Most Recent Common Ancestor);c) provide the only (or final) mtDNA test that one will ever need to take;d) allow our most inquisitive clients to have results that will be ‘in hand’ when more advanced scientific papers are published in the future.
