Raymond Paul Girouard, 68, died Tuesday, July 13, 1999, under the care of Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale.

He was born in Ware, Mass., and moved from New Jersey to Tampa in 1955, after service in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. In Tampa, he was vice president of The LaHayne Corporation before he and his wife and sons moved to Winter Haven in 1969, where he founded Central Door Company, Inc.

Industry activities included membership in the Door and Operator Dealers Association, charter member and past president of the Florida Operator and Door Association, and member of the Quarter Century Club of Raynor Garage Doors of Dixon, Ill. He was also involved in state vocational certification programs through the Florida Operator and Door Association.

His hobbies included woodworking and model railroading. He was a member of the National Model Railroad Association-Sunshine Region, the Ridge Model Railroad Club, where he was past president and director, and a founding member and president of the Cypress Gardens Model Railroad Society.

Service, social and religious affiliations included past membership in the Cypress Gardens Rotary Club, and was involved in the Boy Scout Model Railroad Merit badge program. He was a member of the Lake Region Yacht & Country Club, and First Presbyterian Church in Winter Haven.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Evelyn S. Girouard of Winter Haven; two sons, Scott (Katherine) Girouard of Winter Haven and Stacy (Kristin) Girouard of Gainesville; four grandchildren, Alex and Warren Girouard of Winter Haven, and Kelsey and Jacob Girouard of Gainesville; two brothers, George Girouard of Andover, N.J., and Robert Girouard of Newton, N.J.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Leona Girouard; and a sister, Lorraine Schock.

Memorial services are 11 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church in Winter Haven. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
