Helen M. (Allain) Girouard, 93, of New Bedford, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at Sacred Heart Home after a brief illness. She was the widow of Henry N. Girouard.

Born in Buctouche, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of the late Maxim and Marie Anne (Maillet) Allain, she had lived in New Bedford since the age of 18. She was a communicant of St. Joseph-St. Therese Church. Mrs. Girouard was a homemaker. She was a former member of the Ladies of St. Anne of St. Joseph-St. Therese Church. In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing bingo. Survivors include a daughter, Cecilia LeBlanc and her husband, Paul, of Acushnet; a son, Paul Girouard of New Bedford; three sisters, Juliette LeBlanc, Marie Richard, and Dolorise Comeau, all of Canada; two brothers, Gerard Allain and Alderic Allain, both of Canada; three grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Henry N. Girouard Jr. and sister of the late Joseph Allain, Emelia M. Allain, and twins, August Allain and Augusta LeBlanc. Her funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph-St. Therese Church. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd.
