Obituary: GREENFIELD -
Leo W. Girouard Jr., 65, of 149 Conway St.,
a retired repair technician and a model-boat builder,
died yesterday at home after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 36 years, June B. (Rand) Girouard;
a son, Leo W. Girouard III; two daughters,
Kathy J. Aldrich of Greenfield and
Barbara A. Haskins of Turners Falls; a brother,
Donald J. Girouard of Nashua, N.H.; 10 grandchildren;
two great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces.
He was born in Athol, son of Leo W. Girouard Sr. and
Agnes (Truehart) Girouard, and was raised in Nashua, N.H.
He lived here 24 years. He graduated from New Mode Barber
School in Nashua. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War,
serving in Korea. Mr. Girouard was a barber for about
11 years at Chaisson's Barber Shop in Orange. He then
worked at Millers Falls Tool Co. After that, he was a
repair technician at Standard Appliance Co. here.
He sang and played the guitar for many years.
He fashioned model boats and ships.
He also flew remote-control model airplanes.
He was a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in
Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main St., Orange.
Burial will be in South Cemetery, Orange.
