COMMENTS
* Mary Witney's birth was registered in the "Anston Sub-District of Worksop Registration District in the County of York". Her birth place, Kiveton Wales, is in Yorkshire although Worksop is in Nottinghamshire. Registration District boundaries have subsequently changed. Her Birth Certificate gives her name as "Mary" but she is recorded as "May" in the 1881 Census.
The parents and siblings of her husband are thought to have emigrated to British Columbia, Canada in the early 1900s but that she and her husband remained in England Source: Family Records
Her husband later passed through Ellis Island Source: www.ellisisland.org
It is not yet known whether Mary and their children joined William later, whether he stayed in the United States without his family or whether he returned to England.
