COMMENTS

Tombstone Inscription: "In loving memory of Elizabeth, beloved wife of William Gilbertson, who died at 6, Millholme Terrace 14 April 1919 aged 45 years and of William Gilbertson who died at 8, Manor Road 16 June 1949 aged 76 years also their daughter Sarah 1895 - 1982"

Stoker (fireman), then Locomotive (Engine) Driver, North Eastern Railway then London, Midland and Scottish Railway. Took the Royal Scot, now in the Railway Museum, Diss, Norfolk, to USA and Canada in 1932, for which he was made a Member of the British Empire. Archives in local Carlisle newspaper, National Railway Museum, York and various American and Canadian Archives along the route of the tour.
