the debt in the declaration mentioned & his costs by him about his suit in this behalf expended & this Deft. in mercy & com., but Judgement, except as to the cost, is to be discharged by the payment of 3 pounds, 12 shillings & 10 pence Court money with interest. Page 535: On petition of Lawrence _____ Gillock to have a view for road to turn out by his house. Ordered that Wm. Sijon, Joseph Thomas, Gaydon Branham & Bryon Sijon or any of them, they first being sworn before same J.P. for this County to view the way & make a report to the Court of conveinces and inconveinces attending to the same.
Order Book #8: 1769 - 1777 Page349: On pages 590 and 591 this: Samuel ______ Gillock (I suppose Lindsay.. DGJ) appeared in discharge of his recognizance to answer the complaint of Elizabeth ______ Dean for a breach of the peace - Whereupon sundry writs were sworn and examined and the parties fully heard - On consideration whereof it is the opinion of the Court that the said Samuel _____ Gillock be bound to keep the peace and be of good behavior for the space of 12 months himself in the penalty of $20... and find two securities to be bound with the sum of $10. each. Whereupon the said Samuel ______ Gillock with Valentine Johnson & Phillip P___Barbourson (or Barberson) his securities came into court and acknowledgeed themselves to be indebted to the Governor the said Samuel ______ Gillock in the sum of $20. and the said Valentine Johnson and Phillip P____ Barberson (?) the sum of $10.. each of their respective goods and chattels, lands, and tenements to be lenso and to the said Governor and his successors for the use of the Commonwealth _______ (word could not be made out) yet upon this condition that if the said Samuel Gillock shall keep the peace and be of good behavour towards all people of the commonwealth and particularly towards said Elizabeth ____ Dean. for the space of 12 months then this recognizance to be void.
Deed Book 19, p 64: Know all men by these presents that I William Jameson of the county of Orange for the consideration of debt due Lawrence _____ Gillock Sr., by bond by assignment from James _____ Gillock to Lawrence Gillock Jr., hath this day bargained, sold & delivered to Lawrence ____ Gillock Jr., his heirs or assigns one sorrel horse branded thus "S. E.", one gray horse with glass eye, a red cow & bull yearling marked "___"(?), a crop & slit in both ears apy(?), cow & bull yearling marked the right ear and underhead and left ear an half spade one big (PUE) (?) table, one chest, a crop of corn & tobacco & other 5 hogs together with everything I now possess & do warrent & defend the same th thes aid Lawrence _____ Gillock Jr., his heirs or assign against the claim of any person or persons whatsoever as witnesseth my hand & seal this 10-9-1786. Benj "B" Bradley, John ( ) Roche (could not write, made mark. DGJ) A a Court held for Orange County on Thursday 2-22-1787, a deed from William Jameson to Lawrence Gillock Jr. was proved bt the oath of Benjamin Bradley, and John Roche, witnesses thereto & ordered to be recorded. James Taylor, C. O. C. (lots of times, names on these instruments are relatives, so always take notice, they are helpful in tracing lineages. DGJ)
