HEZEKIAH PAGE GILLOCK Sr. son of JAMES MILTON GILLOCK Sr Hezekiah b 8-15-1845, Rocky Hill, Barren Co., Ky, is on 1850 Census age 5. When the Civil War broke out in 1861, even tho only age 16 years, 1 month & 22 days, he felt his patriotic duty, was young adventurous, run off, told them he was of age ( I guess DGJ) & enlisted 10-7- 1861 as Pvt. in Co. “E”, 6th Ky. Mounted Infantry. Was wounded 4-6-1862. in the battle of Shiloh. Recovered & rejoined Command. Capt. THOMAS G. PAGE was his Capt., HEZEKIAH was discharged under age. (WILLIAM HENRY GILLOCK, son of WILLIAM GEORGE WASHINGTON GILLOCK also was in the same Co. DGJ). You couldn’t stop a young man, all fired up & raring to go, Hezekiah rejoined MORGAN’s Command & served till the end of the war. Was captured 7-20-1863 in Ohio & was exchanged 2-24-1865. was surrendered & paroled 5-9-1865 at Washington, Ga., & released 5-22-1865 at Nashville, Tn, after taking the Oath of Allegiance. Proven by military records & comrades.
