JAMES MILTON GILLOCK, Sr. filed a paper stating that she MRS. H. L. GILLOCK, became irritable & fussed & nagged & left his bed & board About 10-15-1861, his wife being moved by some cause unbeknown to him left, took all her things. That he treated her well & provided for her like a good & Kind husband should.
ANOTHER PAPER SAYS: INQUEST, was held to inquire as to soundness of JAMES N. GILLOCK Sr’s mind. And after due inquiry had, the Jury found JAMES of UNSOUND mind, & Court appointed a Committee to Investigate. AFFIANT states he was deceived at the time by his son JAMES HILTON GILLOCK Jr. & his brother ROBERT ROBERTSON HUNT GILLOCK. He states That if he was now “COMPISSMENTIS”(?) (no word in dictionary by this DGJ at that time, which he denies, he now answers that he is as much in his right mind as he ever was. He states that the inquest held, was falsely obtained, & that under the orders & actions had there under much fraud & injustice is done him & done to his interest & prejudiced & prays the Court to set aside the said inquest & Judgement & all order pertaining thereto & for all other papers (WNLF) (?) Appears on Muster roll for Jan. thru Dec. 1863 as present. Appears on Muster roll for Jan. thru April 1864 as present; Reported Captured 9-1-1864 at Battle of JONESBORO, Tn; Sept. thru Oct. 1864 present. Copyist was O. T. TAYLOR; last copyist L. MURDOCH.
