Know all men by these presents that we James Davidson & William C. Williamson are held & firmly bound to William A. Booth, Rinker______(?) John Anderson, Adam Shearman & Henry Keller Gentlemen of the County Court, now setting in the sum of One Thousand Dollars current money of Virginia to the payment will & truly to be madeunto the said Justices & their Successors we bind ourselves, our heirs Executors & Administrators, jointly, severally & Firmly by these presents, sealed by our seals & dated this 1-14-1795.
The condition of the above obligation is such that, whereas the above bound James Davison is appointed guardian to John Gillock Jr., orphan of John Gillock Sr., dec'd, if therefore the said James Davidson, guardian as afore said, his heirs, Executors or Administrators shall & will truly pay or cause to be paid to the said orphan all as now due or shall appear to be due to the said orphan, when or as soon as said orphan shall attain lawful age, or when thereto required by said Justices or of their successors & also save & keep harmless the said Justices from all trouble & damage which shall or may occur about the said estate or estates, then the above obligation to be void, else to remain in full force & viture, signed sealed & in the court, James H. Davison (seal)(the correct name-someone wrote wrong name on p10 B.. DGJ) William C. Williamson (seal)
At a Court held for Shenandoah Co., VA. Tues. 1-14-1795, this bond was acknowledged & ordered to record. Teste: (?) Williams CSC. (Comment: since we know John Gillock Sr's Will was probated 6-28-1783, he died before that date. And we have documentary proof (which follows) of Hannah (Wolfenberger) Gillock married George Wood 6-1-1784, Shenandoah Co., VA. I am not sure why this guardian bond was made, Does it mean that John Jr's mother Hannah (Gillock) Wood was dead also??? John Jr was born 5-1-1778, if this date is correct he would be age 16 years & 8 months. John Sr., did not leave anything of real value, Real or Personal Property. So one guess is as good as the other DGJ) (John Jr. leaves a very long list of descendants, which will follow soon DGJ)
Found at Woodstock, Shenandoah Co., VA. May 24, 25, & 29, 1973 some in Aug. 1976, by my self... it came from some book (I forget) it was on an old piece of paper, wrinkled, fraying, faded, written by hand in ink that was still readable, size 7" x 6 1/2" high, one edge glued in & on one of the pages of the book, easy to take out & that is what I did (God forgive) I have it preserved between clear plastic.....
Shenandoah Co., VA. know all men by these presents, that we George Wood & John Brown are held & firmly bound unto Benj. Harrison, Esqur. Harrison, or to his successors to the which payment will & truly to be made we bind ourselves & hereescort & administrate jointly & severnlly firmly by these presents sealed withour seals & dated this 1st day of June 1784, & the conditions of the above obligations such that whereas there is a marriage to be had & solemnized between the above bound George Wood & Hannah (Wolfenberger) Gillock. Widow, both of this country. Now if there be no just cause or impairment (?) to observor the said marriage then the obligations to be void to remain in full force & value (?).
