JOHN Jr's & LAWRENCE Sr's pet continues.......................
JOURNAL OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, Richmond, 1827; p. 10 Wed 10-14-1778 = Petition of Lawrence Gillock Sr., that he had a son who had enlisted in the Continental Service lying sick at his house during the fall & winter of 1776, this petitioner has been at a considerable expense in bringing him home & nursing him, & praying reasonable satisfaction for the same... Ordered that the said petitions be referred to the committee of Public Claims that they do examine the matter thereof, & report the same, with their opinions thereupon to the House.
p 18 Mon 10-19-1778: Mr Lee, from the Committee of Public Claims, reports they, according to order, had (sic) under their consideration; that the petition of Lawrence Gillock Sr., praying be re-imbursed his expenses in traveling to Head Quarters & bringing home his son John Gillock Sr., a soldier in the Continental Service, who lay there ill with Rheumatic pains, which rendered him for a considerable time unfit for duty, also for nursing & maintaining said son, is reasonable and that he ought to be reimbursed, amounting to the sum of 7L, 10 s, & a further allowance 10d per day for 131 days, amounting to 5 L, 9 s, 2 d; the aforesaid sums to be charged to this Commonwealth account against the U.S. of America. (The above was "agreed to by the House"& ordered taken to the Senate for concurrence.

SHENANDOAH CO VA April Court 1795 Joseph Wolfenberger (Bro. to Hannah (Wolfenber) Gillock m John Sr.DGJ)(WOLFENBERGER mis spelledDGJ) came into Court & made Oath that John Gillock Jr is the only son & legal representative of John Gillock Sr. dec'd, late private in the Second Virginia Regiment which is ordered to be certified. A copy Teste: ______Williams. Shenandoah Co., Personally appeared before the subscriber a Justice O Peace for said Co., Samuel Graudson who after being duly sworn deposeth & said that was put into his hands (several years ago) by a certain Jas. H. Davidson, a discharge (& to the best of this deponants recollection for an enlistment during the war) to A John Gillock Sr. who is now dead, This depondant can't now be positive whether he returned said discharge to Davdison or mislaid or lost it, but certain he is that he once had it in possession & called or showed it to the Secretary of War, who informed this deponant that the time had expired when such claims have been exhibited & settled. Comment: This is particularly relevant because, since John Gillock Sr. is the only Gillock listed by Q Wathney in Virginians in the Revolution it confirms our assumption that John Gillock Sr. was the son of Lawrence Gillock Sr., & Jane... of the 1786 Will, Orange Co., VA (No telling how much information is lying around, if one only knew where to look, "YOU" reading this now, let this be an incentive to you to "SEARCH IT OUT AND LET ME KNOW, I HOPE to be around for another 30 years, I'm just 75 now: HA! HA! DGJ) END OF PETITIONS.
