Descendants of
Joseph Bartunek
(Abt 1850-Unknown)The family history has James Bartunek as the motivator to get all his brothers and sisters to America, If waiting for the graphical presentation is driving you crazy, you may wish to switch to the text version.
We're still trying to discover what inspired the Bartuneks to go to Wolbach, Greely County, Nebraska, and the route that took them there
My husband's Grandfather, Antón Bartunek married Ida Nelson and reared Leo, Kathleen and Edward in Wolbach before moving to Ord, Nebraska. Tragedy struck in 1918, when their youngest, Edward, got terribly ill. Kathleen remembered harsh words between Antón and his wife who was a a Christian Scientist. Ida prevailed, no medical attention was sought and Edward died. Kathleen Bartunek also remembered that it was cold, there were blizzards and the trip to get medical attention might have killed someone in fair health.
Regardless, in the year 2000 we've learned that Antón and Ida divorced and Antón withdrew to himself for close to ten years before marrying a second time. Kathleen married Irvin Felker Gillen around 1929 and they had one child, my husband, Frank Gillen. The links will take you to prose and when available, pictures of the individuals or you can jump to Contents, the Reunion generated portion of the site with individual and family group sheets.
Ida and Anton Bartunek are on the left, their daughter Kathleen is on the right.
