Individual:
They lived at 22 the Green, Mountsorrel. Their daughter, Grace, continued to live there until her death.
In a letter from Grace Newbold July 2001 she wrote:
I am afraid cannot tell you if Alice s father, Thomas, went to Connecticut. My dad, William, did say that Thomas was born out of wedlock, but he never said who was the father. My dad did not say a great deal about the family, not like today when so many people are interested in the family tree.
My dad worked for a baker for quite a while when he was young, but had to leave this because of the flour - he was very asthmatic. Yet he went to work in a hosiery factory and then the Quarry. As if the quarry wasn t all dust, but of course Mountsorrel is Quarry granite.
Mom and Dad were married on 21 October, 1905 - Trafalgar Day. Village was celebrating Trafalgar - not the wedding.
