Individual:
Clarice said that Thomas was adopted. Sarah was his real mother but Thomas was not the father. He lived in West Concord, New Hampshire.
Thomas real father moved to Vinal Haven, Maine after his first wife died. He married again.
Allen Newbold writes that the 1881 census states that Thomas is 24 years old and his wife Alice Carson was 22.
In a letter from Alice Newbold to Greg Hunter...
Dear Greg,
Alice Carson and Thomas Newbold were married October 18, 1877. Alice was born January 25th, 1859. Thomas was born April 8, 1856. But I am sure you know that my father (Thomas) was really not a Newbold; only by adoption. Aunt Eliza made sure everyone knew that. My mother never told me.
I have written to Milford about Charles and will write to Concord about Ernest and have written to Green Bay about Mary Anna. Maybe your Gram will write Grace and see about the rest.
Alice Newbold
