Mrs. Jas. Bacon Died, Aged 69

Stricken Suddenly with Influenza
Had Been Caring for Sick Son
Mrs. Bacon Was Stricken Ill at Home of Son Who Is Ill With Pleurisy and at Whose Home She Had Been Staying For Three Weeks
Philadelphia, January 28 - Mrs. Minnie Hunter Bacon, aged 69, and wife of James Bacon, died Saturday night at 7 at the home of her son, Winfield Bacon, on the Sterlingvill Road where she had been staying for the past three weeks caring for her son, Winfield, who has been seriously ill with pleurisy.
Mrs. Bacon arose Thursday morning with a cold and it rapidly grew worse and Dr. M. M. Ryan was called about five o clock Thursday morning and said that she was suffering from influenza. A trained nurse was called from Watertown, but heart complications developed and she passed away Saturday night.
Mrs. Bacon was the last one of the four children to be born to the late Thomas and Ann Dayton Hunter. She was born in Plessis, NY, February 8, 1864.
On November 2, 1885, she was married to James Bacon of this place. For a year following they made their home in Plessis but moved to this town on the farm about two miles from the village on the Philadelphia-Evans Mills road where they have spent their lives.
Besides her husband, James Bacon, and her son, Winfield, at whose home she died, she is survived by another son, Walter, who resides on the old homestead; two granchildren, Carleton Bacon of Houghton, Michigan and Mrs. Marion Quencer of Evans Mills, and a great-grandson, Francis Wesley Quencer.
Mrs. Bacon was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and its societies of Philadelphia and also of Philadelphia Grange.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon with a prayer at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Winfield Bacon, and at 2 p.m. from the Methodist Church. Burial will be made in Plessis.
