CLAUDE ALLEN TRIAL STILL DRAGS ALONG
Ten Witnesses Give Damaging Testi- mony--Detective Lucas Tells of Hunt and Capture.
Wytheville, Va., July 6. --The trial of Claud Allen is still dragging along. A number of witnesses were examined today, going over the same testimony principally that was brought out in the two former trials, one of Floyd Allen and the other of the prisoner, for the murder of Judge Massie.
Ten witnesses gave damaging testimony against Claud Allen for the murder of Attorney Foster.
Detective Lucas, who captured Claud Allen, was on the stand and he told of the hunt and his final capture. He was in hiding in the mountain, and the detective said the prisoner was well provided with supplies. He had two boxes of cartridges, $84 in cash and camping equipment.
Several witnesses told of Claude and Sidna Allen being armed in the courtroom on the day of the tragedy. They also detailed the circumstances of the shooting, the general opinion being that the first shots were fired in the northeast corner of the building where it was shown Claude and Sidna Allen were standing when the trouble started.
