Aims or
Purpose of Group
The Society aims
to collect, preserve and interpret the history of Suffolk County and its
people. In order to fulfill this aim, the society maintains a research
library, a manuscript repository, a museum, and a variety of programs and
activities.
Service,
Resources, or Benefits Provided to Members
The Museum is open
Tuesday through Saturday, 12:30 to 4:30 PM. The society's publication
"Register" is sent, and 10% discounts are offered in the Weathervane
Gift Shop. The library offers extensive collections of census microfilms,
published genealogies, genealogical manuscript collections, records of the
Daughters of the Revolution of 1776, newspaper and photograph collections,
maps, and more.
