Both Mary and Jacob were born in Franklin Co. Mary was the great granddaughter of Jacob Flora and Jacob was the great grandson of his sister, Eva Katherine Flora Naff. Thus, they were third cousins. Of their nine children, one died as a young adult while the rest lived into old age. After Jacob at the age of 56, Mary remarried widower Joseph Boon.
